An excellent evening of Bar Billiards last night, only spoiled by the non appearance of one of the players in the Lower Division Pairs ( must be this competition as the same happened last year). The players have agreed to play another night. There was an issue with the cushions on two of the tables when setting up earlier in the day. Fortunately, Pete had some spare ones and was able to switch them before the evening started. They would have been virtually unplayable otherwise. On to the finals and there were some different faces appearing , great for the game and league. The Men's Pairs saw the Oakley boys beat Steve & Andy 2-0 on table 1 The Ladies Pairs, played on the trickier table 3 went to Hayley & Chrissie (runners up the last two finals) who beat Jean & Chelle 2-0 The Captains Cup saw James beat Brian 2-0, both players had several chances on a good top (2) The Seniors (old gits) had two new faces and Nick comfortably beat Mick 2-0 on another good table (1) The Mixed Pairs had Neil & Lynn returning to defend their title against overwhelming favourites Nigel & Chelle but to no avail. They lost 2-0 on table 2 giving Nige his first Worthing MP title.. Gareth won his first Worthing comp final beating Brian 2-0 in the Lower Division Singles on the tough table 3 The Mens singles had previous two time winner Mark playing Phil on table 2. Chances for both players as Mark took the title 2-0 The first running of the Division 1 singles had Chris v Chris on table 3. Guess what....Chris won☹️, Oakley that is 2-1. This was only the second final on the night that went to three games Finally, we saved the best til last where Chelle took on Jean for the umpteenth time in the Ladies singles. Jean had a 100% record against her partner in singles competitions until tonight. Jean won the first comfortably, Chelle responded well to take the second. In the lucky last, Jean broke off with 3900, Chelle replied with 5800 but left the balls short. Jean got them back but also left them short which gave the title to Chelle Well done to all the winners, commiserations to the runners up Thanks to Chris Richards for selling the football cards and Dave for the programmes and as usual, the Tarring club for their hospitality. Thanks also to the scorers on the night ensuring there was no waiting around to start matches. The biggest thanks goes to Pete Hickman, without him the evening could have been a shambles on the two original tables.
See you all on June 9th for Presentation night, same time, same place, well about 8.0pm actually

There was an issue with the cushions on two of the tables when setting up earlier in the day. Fortunately, Pete had some spare ones and was able to switch them before the evening started. They would have been virtually unplayable otherwise. In case anyone missed this, Billingshurst had had a similar problem at their Finals Night the night before. On one particular table, numbered DC20 the side cushions had virtually no bounce, rendering the break virtually impossible (either way) and with the Mens Pairs final at 1-1 all four players complained and it was sidelined for the rest of the evening. There have since been a number of developments but culminating now in a happy ending....... On speaking to KT he confirmed that the table serial number matched but that the replacement cushions provided by Pete had been left on. We were then informed that this table was among four delivered to Roffey by Tarratts last Friday for our Horsham Masters and last night's Finals Night, but that it had been rectified by means of a new slate and cloth. As is his wont, Graham Sparksman then spent several hours preparing the tables for our events, and gave DC20 some extra attention. He did such a good job that Lloydy was able to record a break of 20,020 on it last night !
