Home | Team | Albion Fishersgate C | v | Albion Fishersgate A | Away | Team |
---|
Legs | Score | Player | v | Player | Score | Legs | | | | | | | | 0 | 8,880 | Geoff Jukes | v | Joe Oakley * | 9,090 | 1 | 1 | 10,830 | Grant Tully * | v | Tony Jenner | 0 | 0 | 0 | 4,000 | Dave Ingram | v | Henry Brooks * | 10,970 | 1 | 1 | 4,650 | Stuart Mepham * | v | Rick Cunningham | 3,180 | 0 | 0 | 450 | Jim Millward | v | Matthew Knight * | 13,820 | 1 | | | | | | | | 2 | 28,810 | Totals | v | Totals | 37,060 | 3 |
Game 1 Joe opened with an excellent 9,090, Geoff got the balls straight back and was up to 6.2k with plenty of time to catch Joe when he got a nasty kick on a break shot and came off, although Geoff got them back again he just ran out of time in a very good game. 0-1 Game 2 Grant off at just under 3k but was first to get them back and made sure with another 4.5k, nothing worked for TJ at all and Grant added some more before Tony took the black peg with the last ball. 1-1 Game 3 Henry made a good 7.3k start which left me time to catch him.... but he was first to get the break back and made sure, I finished the game off. 1-2 Game 4 Stuart up to 6.5k before whipping a 10 split out and then pegging his recovery shot to give Rick the break, Rick came off at just over 3k and Stuart got the balls back and finished off to take the match to a decider. Game 5 Probably fair to say that Matt rode his luck a couple of times (including a notable 50/50 split shot after whipping the white out of the 100 hole) on his way to 5.7k, no luck for Jim and Matt added another 2.5k... still no luck for Jim and Matt finished off with a nice 5.5k break to win the match. A good win for the visiting A Team who had a few bits of luck when they needed them but deserved their win, the result means that the re-arranged games that are due to be played next week will decide the league this season. Enjoyable evening, although probably quieter than some of our previous encounters....

Yet another pub they have taken over and decided they don't want the table in, i hope they don't get hold of to many pubs in Brighton because with their dislike for Bar Billiards it could start to cause problems for the league as that is now 2 venues lost for next season......

You could investigate the Hangleton Manor, Hove. Flagship pub for Sussex for brewers Hall & Woodhouse based in Dorset. When we received a sponsorship grant two years ago, Ian G and myself attended a presentation evening there with great hospitality. It's olde worlde but with plenty of space inside, loads of choice where a b-b table could go. You could try emailing H & W's chief exec Mark Woodhouse as a first point of contact.

The last time looked in the West Hill they had a pool table, but that was about 6 months ago. The Manor had a table in the late 70's-early '80's but I don't know if they played in the league. I don't know if The Westbourne along Portland Road would be interested in having a table back. Or even what was the Golden Cross/ Jamaica Inn/ Noble House/ whatever it is now.
