A very reliable source has just informed me that there is now once more a table in YE OLDE SIX BELLS, Billingshurst. One of my old stomping grounds. THE SIX BELLS 76 High Street, Billingshurst, West Sussex RH14 9QS Well, I sounded this out, as is my wont, and paid it a visit last night. - Table has its own little room on the left as you go in. Room is plenty big enough.
- A Tarratt rental, £2 slot. Has been there for 6 months-plus.
- Two young girls were playing it (attached to the pub ?). Good to see the game attracting such interest from youngsters (also the case with New Moon, Crawley)
- Table playable (well, just about) but a struggle to reach a thousand on it. I put this down - rather than to my own ineptitude - to the table being SLOW and with a slight left hand roll: once a few balls were up there spent the rest of the game trying to get 'em back.
The pub is vibrant, and the bar staff seem genuinely interested, so I do hope that league play returns there after a gap of 34 years. But some TLC will be necessary beforehand on the table to bring it up to an acceptable standard. tommo
