Oh Dear. Hare & Hounds 4.5 Dun Horse 0.5 We were out played. Trevor was the only one who settled in to the table & was 100 ahead on the last ball & missed, John Tidy asked his captain "Shall I go for the win or draw" ? the reply was the win however he put the ball down the 100 hence the 0.5

Handcross Club 2 Roffey A 3 Nothing wrong with the Handcross top then Tommo. as Richard Wootton made 12120 & Chris Reeves in the 5th had a 9490 break & score of 14000 something that hasn't happened for a while.

Nothing wrong with the Handcross top then Tommo. Very pleased to hear it. Funny thing was, Roy sent me an eMail on Friday saying he was going to check it over and see if it needed adjusting and I sent one back pleading with him not to touch it. He didn't get my message in time and went anyway but put his own spirit level on it and confirmed it didn't need anything doing. So it's okay until the next time, but will still need keeping a careful eye on. Before Rich and Chris, the last person to score 10k on it I believe was Q. :o

Yep. Also just noticed on the reverse of the card as well as Chris's 9490 break Richard got 8440 on the way to his 12K

It was tough, very uphill and rolled right.
I just hit it hard with loads of left hand side on the break.
Still it was consistent which is the main thing.
Food was great, I had an onion ring the size of a doughnut

It was tough, very uphill and rolled right. Never said it was perfect, this was the position the previous Wednesday : Handcross Z 5, Watermill A 0 Handcross table still not right, but the home team made the most of whatever luck was going on the night. Half-an-hour before that match it was the complete opposite (downhill and rolling left). Seems I may have over-cooked it slightly, although Roy confirmed it was dead level on the Sunday.

Always worries me IF someone only relies on a spirit level and therefore the accuracy of the level and the user ::)

Perhaps if you read this which I posted on 1st November (after a complaint from a team playing a Team Cup match) it will set your mind at rest, Sparky : The Handcross Club table is my responsibility on Wednesday nights - the Z's being the sole home team there remaining in Mid Sussex. I must therefore apologise for not having gone in beforehand to check it was okay. The table seems to get moved around between our fortnightly matches, and when I go in there to 'prepare' it before the home game I make sure I bring my spirit level with me. At the start of the season it was wildly 'out of true' a couple of times and needed adjustment to the legs on one side before I was happy there was a level playing field. Originally I had set it a shade uphill, but someone in the Tuesday team didn't like that and set it too far the other way, it now plays slightly downhill, which means the balls gather at the back of the table - which I would imagine is what you found last night. When I have checked it with the level I will not touch the legs -providing there isn't a pronounced roll to left or right. The break is easier when the table is downhill which is easier for the opposition (a slight disadvantage to my home team). All I do is I test straight balls to the 30,20,20,30 and both 50s and if they go in in a straight line then the table is okay to play a match on - IMHO. I will also brush and 'block' the table and make sure the balls and pockets are clean, and put the light on (at 7.15) to give it a chance to heat up. For the last couple of home matches, I have followed the above routine, and it has not needed any 'correction' - just the brush and block - and though the scores haven't been brilliant, no-one has complained. I thought therefore that it had more or less settled down. I assure all away teams visiting to play my team in the Mid Sussex league will play on a table prepared as honestly as possible my myself. I regret if last night it did not meet this standard and hope it didn't ruin your evening too much.

Sorry Tommo I used the wrong quote really as this was what I was refering to really Very pleased to hear it. He didn't get my message in time and went anyway but put his own spirit level on it and confirmed it didn't need anything doing. as I was well aware of your table leveling routine but I do not know Roy's or anyone else's really ;D
