Doing some work, last week, on our bespoke Competition Secretary database system, this year marks the twenty fifth anniversary of the start of our results database in 1994. It's amazing that the complex system still runs on a Windoze PC given all the Windoze changes, though we do have to use a DOS emulator. Competition Secretary fills in the electronic match cards, emails the data files to me. I plug them in a mirror system, press a button and bingo the web site folder for that competition is updated - league tables, match cards, rankings and individual player records. More in the background that doesn't get published, table performance, highest winning and losing scores, breaks etc. Not had a bug in it for the last fifteen years, when the reports section was expanded to produce html web files. Since then it's been virtually unaltered. Doing some work now (if I can remember the programming language!) to make end of season record collecting easier by listing whatever required number of highest / lowest winning scores and highest losing scores (Craig's & Alan F,'s dubious honour at present with the only 5k plus losing scores ).
