Hi Brighton League players.
The AGM was held last night and we discussed what we could do going forward to try and get something restarted for the coming season.
Now Jim (our chairman) will be going to existing venues to find out whether they can hold socially distanced safe matches, whether it can be 5 a side or less than 5 a side depending on space or whether they can't host games at the moment or whether indeed they intend to keep their table. Running a pub himself he is best place to speak to landlords and knowing what they can/ cannot do.
The feedback I would like is regarding the existing teams. How many players can they realistically field every week? There is an understanding here that no player is under pressure to play now some may want to give it time and that is understandable. We just want to ascertain whether starting a league and in what format is viable at this time.
Options put forward are maybe a 5 a side league with a 3 player rule in place. Or the other way round a 3 a side league but doubles matches to accommodate up to 5 players. We of course may be dictated to by venues who only have space for a 3 a side game, but Jim will be finding this sort of thing out.
So existing teams are below, and I will note down responses I get here. Even if you could only provide 2 players weekly, say so, and it may be a year where teams may join together to form a side for one season only. We are meeting again in 2 weeks.
