Approx sixteen players were present at the Fleur to see the meeting opened by the Chair.
The future and viability of the league were discussed and It was agreed to try to restart the league immediately after Christmas (covid allowing) provided at least six teams enter. The likely number is six or seven. Post Christmas was chosen as at least one publican was against the idea of tables going in pubs just a few weeks before Christmas when space was needed. Chris presented a plan that the league's final night tables will be rotated with the Fleur and Market tables (need refurbishing) as Chris has no space to work on tables with nine in store at present. The former Red Cow table (3D printed rings) will hopefully be installed into the Five Bells, Eastry and does not need any work. The officers were voted in en-bloc and finances remain sound with over £3½k in the bank. Problems have been experienced with access for the Treasurer into the Lloyds account now that the Sandwich branch is closed, the Treasurer does not have on-line access to get to the account from home. A second signatory had been submitted to the bank but this had proved very difficult as well - resolved to investigate moving the account to Nationwide which has a branch in Sandwich. No contact had been heard by the Competition Secretary from KBBA since the last interleague over two years ago, despite Kent representative side(s) being chosen. D&D were the highest Kent league team at the last interleague. The meeting saw no benefit from renewing KBBA affiliation. Chris gave a report on the eleven league tables and considerable spares stock, commenting on continuing vandalism of tables in some pubs. He also gave the league a year’s notice that, at 74, he was becoming less able to manhandle and repair tables and thus the league must have a plan for the future by the 2022 AGM. Gill's severely broken elbow means that she will be unable to help Chris with tables before Christmas at best. Wack kindly offered to help Chris if and when time allowed. The meeting recognised that the league may have to budget to pay professionally for work on tables when Chris is no longer able to offer his free services. Thus Dover Deal and District Bar Billiards League hopefully survives post covid but with the loss of two venues and at least three teams
