Spcc A 2 Mvc B 3 Played on Salfords Y table.
Junkie 3400 Tony 870 Tracy 620 Bud 4240 Laurie 1630 Geoff 6430 Dave 2010 Terry 5220 John 8820 Colin 4740
First up Junkie and Tony. Junks off with a few and with Tony struggling to get the balls back he kept The lead well into the match. Junkie continued to steadily pull away frustrating Tony and ran out An easy winner. A good opening leg as Tony's in good form
Leg 2 Tracy and Bud. Bud off with a steady 3k break took a good advantage and with Tracy not getting hold of the table soon built up a good lead . Eventually Tracy got the balls back but still couldn't take advantage and Bud ran out a worthy winner
Laurie on and off early against Geoff. Not the best of starts but Geoff never got going. The game got Bogged down with plenty of goes .Geoff next to get them back didn't need a second chance and one solid break was enough to win leg 3 and give them a 2-1 lead.
4th and pivotal match Terry and DC. Terry of with a few put pressure on Dave. DC struggling to get to grips with the top and with time against him Terry got them back and made sure. Game over and a dead leg to finish.
Finale John and Colin. Best game of the night with yours truly going off with 7k. A few small breaks each and Col got them back and finished with 4k.
A good competitive match a shame from our angle it wasn't a 2 leg decider but great to see gary and especially Vern after his opp. .

Nomads 2, Old Oak 3 (@ Merstham VC)
Richard (1740) lost to Clive (2600) Abbey (750) lost to Charlie (1190) Jim (2170) lost to Paul (5490) John (2480) beat Nick (770) Michael (3070) beat Martin (930)
First two frames were agonisingly close. In Game 3, Jim started well but Paul clicked into gear halfway through. 3-0 to us, then the tail wagged..... Solid game from JP; Then young Michael treated us to an exhibition: going for a first-ever 10k break, he left a split short on 7k and pegged. Martin seemed to have done enough in reply but Michael got 'em back again and had time to get another 3k for the win.

Well done Old Oak, a good evening. And well done to JP for counting all the way to 7640 only for me to peg it - leaving the scoreboard reading 0-0 after 12 minutes!! 😂😂

Catch up game from postponed match
Horley CC 3 Spcc A 2
Roland 4050 Tracy 2030 Chris 690 John 8470 Nev 2790 Junkie 2200 Alex 8850 Laurie 1000 Aaron 860 Dave 8740
First up Roly and Tracy. Roly on and off early giving Tracy a chance. Plenty of goes each and the game was still pretty even. Roland made a couple of steady breaks and took the lead. 4 times down on the break gave Tracy one last chance but not to be and roly added a few more.
Game 2 me and Chris. Chris off early gave me a quick chance 3k and off. A few more goes and I got the balls back and made a few more. The game relatively new to Chris this season is always going to be tough at times and Its great to see someone giving it a go. A late break was enough.
Next up Junkie and Nev and a real scrappy affair . Loads of goes and pegs with Junkie a few in front most of the way. Nev got them back late on and made enough to nick the leg.
Game 4 Alex and Laurie not the best draw for out of form Loz. Alex on with the break playing well rattled up a Match winning 8k opener including a red down the 200 off the back cushion. A few more goes each and time was up.
Last but not least DC and Aaron. Our first break of the night and Dave off with 3k. Aaron struggling a bit and DC next to get the balls back. Sailing along nicely on a break Dave spins a 50 straight down the 200 ( phew ) black stays up .One all with Alex's fluke !!!. One last good break game over
A lovely evening with Alex and the horley lads. Another setback for us with Tracy and Junkie having chances unlike Loz. Rounded off with a lovely spread.

Both teams were depleted and 4-plyr rule was invoked for both matches. *Tom 930, Clive 5890 (Tom unlucky to lose his opening break of 5k) Caroline 4910, *Martin 6640 (Oak 2-0 up and the stage set for a hero) *Pete 2900, Margo 200 (Margo lost 510 on her first visit and never recovered, Pete growing in confidence) Dave 1770 , *Charlie 970 (Dave allowing himself the luxury of losing a 6k break). Match now tied at 2-all. So guess which players were drawn out to play again, in a 2-leg decider ? Yes you guessed it, Tom vs Clive, which meant that by the end of the evening both would have played FIVE frames of bar billiards !!!!! Leg 1 *Tom 9110, Clive 1400 - a magnificent 9k break by Tom, splitting on every opportunity (mainly 50/10 or 50/20) Leg 2 Tom 2090, *Clive 7550 - complete contrast in styles, I did two down, one up and played 50's....got to within 400, broke down and left 'em awkward. It was a question of who would clear the table first and (after a few goes each) it was Tom who ran out a deserved winner by 11,200 to 8950. A momentous double-match played in a sporting atmosphere. The result 3-2 to Salfords B and best of luck to them in the Final.

Chance of match in the first four picks = 1/4 Chance of match in the 5th player match = 1/4*1/4=1/16 (assuming all four players are to be picked from) Chance of Clive v Tom occurring twice in the same match = 1/4*1/16=1/64 Chance of Clive v Tom occurring twice in two consecutive matches = 1/64*1/64 = 1/4096 = 0.000244 = 0.0244% i.e. Unlikely!!!

One in four thousand then, Michael ! Strange things seem to happen to me when Trottman is involved (absent through illness last night) ...... I once played against him in a league match (Black Horse v Black Dog) and scored 15k without winning. How? I had just overtaken him with 8k when the scorer stated the bar hadn't gone with 22 mins played. I agreed a "voided game" happy in the knowledge that I had sussed the table and it was me to break (= mister arrogant !). The game was timed and I tapped up after a slow 7k ...... Trotter caught me and overtook as the bar went on 18mins. Fair game to him, I wasn't bitter as he had played so well under pressure. A couple of years later we became teammates after his team had looked after me whilst in Jersey.

PRESIDENTS CUP FINAL - LIVE UPDATES Salfords B 1-3 South Park CC B Dave* 8010-3080 Mick John 1250-2820 *Pete Pete* 330-1540 Genette Tom 1370-5850 *Martin Caroline* NOT PLAYED Denise Dave started off in uncharacteristic fashion - missing a ball on the break twice and coming off with less than 2k. Mick couldn't take advantage though and after some effort Dave managed to get the balls back and make a 6k and tap for the first leg. Mick then finished off by playing the table out for 3k.
Next up Pete looked good put of the blocks but managed to peg his 3k break leaving it honours even 5 minutes in. After a good scrap at the back of the table it was Pete who managed to get the break back courtesy of a couple of.. interesting 100 shots. He only managed 1k though and so left John well in it. Despite a spirited fight from John it was Pete who got over the line to level the scores up at 1-1.
Having complained prefusely about the lovely Garland top (I'm not biased.. promise) Genette showed why she had built that opinion in a very scrappy opening where neither her or Pete could get going. It was tight throughout but Pete's unfortunate black peg was enough for Genette to get over the line in particularly unspectacular fashion.
Martin opened up the fourth frame with a break of 4.5k where he had to work hard at the back of the table. Following that Tom had a couple of chances to get the break back however despite his best endeavours it wasn't until it was too late that he was successful in this mission. Confirming that South Park B would take home the first trophy of a potential cup double!
So a battling comeback victory for South Park B on a night where neither team found their fluency. Stand out performances from Dave and Martin who were the only two to break the 2k mark (and keep it!!). Time for a shot at the double!!

Thanks for the report Michael, so glad to win last night after 3 runners up in the last 6 times the trophy has been played, was also nice to take the winning leg after not performing in the semi-final. I would like to thank all my team for getting us there and finally getting us over the finishing line.
