Copy of a note sent to the LBBL members.
As you may well be aware there has been an increase of COVID related issues recently and it has been brought to my attention that several players of the LBBL have been affected, some of whom have had to isolate or are still in isolation, taking PCR test etc. Most of the singles round 2 games due to be played last Tuesday were postponed because of this.
To better gauge the situation I recently contacted each of the team captains for an assessment of their team status and for their opinion on whether to continue with the LBBL program. The consensus was that we should err on the side of caution in the interest of health, safety and to reduce the risk of vulnerability.
Therefore, based upon this feedback the committee have taken the decision to cancel this season’s League Cup competition and to postpone the upcoming Master’s tournament. A decision on whether the Master’s tournament will be rescheduled will be taken later in the season.
This means there will now be a break in our schedule with the intention of the LBBL program recommencing with our league fixtures on the 11th. January 2022.
Could team captains please inform their home venue proprietors of the decision and to pass on apologies from the LBBL for any inconvenience this may cause.
Further information will be sent towards the end of this year to provide an up-to-date status and hopefully to confirm a restart.
Finally, may I thank you again for your tolerance, understanding and support with yet another difficult situation.
Bill Harrison.
