Mike became unwell and was admitted to hospital a couple of days ago I am sorry to have to inform you that Mike suffered a heart attack last night and passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, this lunchtime. So many of us have known Mike and Lin for so many years and appreciate what a driving force and family man he was throughout life. We will all miss him.
Mike was a member of both local teams that won the National Pub Team Championship. He was a local league champion many many times including fifteen appearances in each of the open singles, pairs and mixed finals.
Mike was Chairman of our league for many years and instrumental in keeping our league running.
He leaves Lin and sons Paul and Mark plus the grandchildren.
Chris & Gill Saville Mike’s lifelong friends and brother/sister-in-law for over forty years.

What sad news, met Mike at many inter leagues and had the honour of partnering him in Bournemouth getting to the quarterfinals, using his cue as I forgot mine. A true gentleman never heard him raise his voice or have a bad word for anyone. Condolences to his family. He will be sadly missed.

That's really sad news. Mike was a lovely bloke and an absolute gentleman. My thoughts with Lin and the family at this time.

Family flowers only at the funeral please.
Donations can be made direct to the RNLI, preferably to the Walmer Lifeboat if possible. Donations may also be made via E B Cavell Funeral Directors, or there will be a collection box at the funeral..

Following the funeral there will be a gathering at the Alma, all are welcome to join the family and share memories of Mike.

We saw Mike off today, family, friends and many local bar billiard players were there plus players from across Kent.
Many came back to the Alma to share memories.

The floral tribute did look better than that but finished up rolling from side to side in the back of the hearse as the cortège had to speed up, when running late, due to a diversion from an accident, Mike would have laughed!
Also did not mention that members of Fairport Convention sent flowers and were there. Mike and Lin had supported the band for years and went to many Cropredy festivals.
