I am happy to say that we will be at the KGV again this year. I know that it did cause some travel issues for some last year. And we are hoping to provide more information on transport options.
We did have another option but they wanted over £1000 per day.
Forms will be released shortly. Weekend 29th and 30th. April

It's giving security warnings probably because the Guernsey site is still on plain text transmission (http) and not joined the unnecessary arm twisting to go encoded transmission (https) pointless on a site where sensitive data is not used
File has been scanned by me for macros etc

As we near the open weekend here is some further information.
This year we will have 11 playing tables and 1 practice table.
7 will be in the main room and 4 in the other room. the practice table will again be upstairs. This will allow space for the admin desk to be in the main room.
As well as the open we kick start the weekend with the Guernsey Masters on friday from 7.30 pm. We have again arranged for a discount from the club at the bar and wristbands will be handed out on friday.
Saturday The Pairs start at 10am please register arrival from 9.30am.
All the tables will be in place from Thursday night however the numbering of these tables will be done on 3 separate occasions, before the masters, before the pairs, and finally on Sunday morning before the singles.
This is done for a couple of reasons. To ensure impartiality on table selection for each game and to be a bit different.
On saturday night we have 4 major events to keep you entertained. Guernsey v Jersey 6 aside, single games, main room. followed by the Guernsey Champion v Jersey Champion - double game. This will all start around 7pm with the reserves match.
Guernsey select v England Ladies, 8 aside. This will be played in the other room. 4 pairs and 8 singles starting at 7.30pm.
At the end of these matches, we will be laying on some food. Please be aware this is not a freebie for all players, it is for the Guernsey, Jersey, and England Ladies team players and officials only.
There will also be a karaoke in the bar. food is also available throughout.
sunday the Singles starts at 9.30am and should be all done around 9.30pm. The bar will remain open until 12.15am each night
Transport to the venue. Those coming from town there is a direct bus the R41. There are also night buses back into town the N2. This will take you back to town via Grandes Rocques at 23.15 and 00.15. the Stop is right outside.
For those coming over early and looking for some bar billiards i can recommend them. The Happy Landings has 2 tables and is within walking distance from the airport terminal. The food is very good value.
The Mariners Inn. it is at the North of the island and our second town is called the Bridge. no food but plenty of nearby options
The Hampshire Inn. The local for "Guernsey Barbilliards" also has darts, Pool and Skittles.
Fontaine Inn. currently a non-league venue. however, this is due to change in the summer.
Those looking for taxi options please speak to Ian Champion who now runs here2there.gg

Guernsey players dominate the major awards at the recent festival of barbilliards. 28th – 30th April @the KGV sponsored by Carlsberg
Trevor continues his dominance of the game and add further to his 25th Island championship, however Paul le Gallez avenges 2 runner ups v Trevor this season. Winning the Guernsey masters on the 28th April beating Trevor in the final. The masters kicks off the weekend of yearly festival of barbilliards in Guernsey. Both Trevor and Paul eased through their respective groups. However they had trickier games in the semi finals with Trevor beating Mat Ogier and Paul, Craig Harvey
During the final both players struggled on the fast playing top, neither were able to use their opening breaks to take any sort of initiative. However in the second game Paul managed to put together a decent break where he got lucky after nearly pegging on his final shot. Trevor was unable to reply and therefore Paul was able to claim his first masters title.
Trevor would later avenge this himself with a victory in the guernsey open pairs. Trevor teamed up excellently with former league player Paul Mason to beat Paul le gallez and Ian champion in the pairs final late on Saturday afternoon. Paul and Ian had progressed to the final after meeting some notable pairing along the way at. In the semi final they had to face England player and former guernsey player martin smith and bob Chapple comfortably to set up the final.
Trevor and Paul mason advanced to the final against guernsey newcomers Mark Fraser and Anita Blackman who also picked up the ladies high break and also progressed as the furthest lady in the singles on the Sunday. With Mark also reaching the last 8. The Final of the plate was one by won by Tony Cross and Dave Jones beating Tony Jenner and Rick Cunningham.
Onto the Saturday night the Guernsey select side beat the England ladies 33-11. In a new addition to the weekend of the Guernsey Festival, We ran a full International 8v8. With 4 pairs matches and 8 singles. Guernsey may of dominated the points however there were a number of games that could of gone either way. We see this as an ongoing comp and expect England to come back stronger for the re match. The Guernsey Team was ably captained by Roy Le Page who also played in the Guernsey v Jersey reserve team match beating Harry Barbet.
Guernsey v Jersey.
Guernsey have been strong in their recent encounters and despite winning again jersey appeared to close the gap. With the score at 3-3 aggregate score tipped guernsey over the line.
Trevor Gallienne got the ball rolling with a straightforward victory over Nigel Ryall with just over 9k advantage. Nigel managed to get a small break however Trevor ran out 10500 v 1650 to put Guernsey aggregate score in a good place.
Darren Ogier then lost to Dave Lomax. Dave all but played the table time out with 7k and left darren no Time to record much score. With the game finishing 7220 v 480 in Dave favor and reduce the aggregate advantage. The inform Paul Le Gallez easily beat Jenny Noel. With a comfortable opening break just new he had to keep Jenny opportunities to a minimum. Finishing with 4200 v 1370 and putting Guernsey 2-1 up and stretching the aggregate win again, Mat Ogier then managed to win the first game of the night against the break. In a much tighter affair Mat managed to beat Sean Le Beauvant 5230 v 3160. With the Game now on the verge of victory for Guernsey Paul Dyer was looking to avenge last year loss to the same player, Emma Noel. However despite leading by over 3k points and not enough time for Emma to win, Paul went for shot that can only be described as a foolish rush of blood. Trying to cut a ball into the 200 hole he black pegged and handed Emma the advantage. With the on watching UK players now firmly routing for Emma she managed to secure the victory with the final Shot in the 200 to win 260 v 220. With the match firmly in the Balance, Graemme Le Monnier had to win by a margin greater than 6970 in his game v Ian Champion. Graemme had the opening break and started off ok but was unable to get near the score needed for and aggregate win. Ian Managed the game well and made sure he kept his score and left difficult shots for Graemme when he returned to the table. Despite the loss Ian game proved to be the pivotal game and gave Guernsey their 4th victory in a row. Sunday the 30th April Open Singles Guernsey again proved to punch above their weight in the world of Barbilliards and proof the transformation the local game has gone through in recent years is now bearing fruit. Bob Chapple overcame former winner Dave Ingram in the final to claim his second title to add to the one he took in 2014. Along the way Bob had to beat 2 local guys in the semi and qtr finals Trevor Gallienne and Ben Wilding, respectively as well as John Slee, Nevile Blackman and Rick Cunningham. Dave Ingram Route to the final was also a tough ask as he beat fellow England players Dave Jones and Martin Smith as well as 2 Jersey islander players Nigel Ryall and Sean Le Beuvant as well as Guernsey men Robbie Help. The Plate final was competed between England internationals Joe Oakley and Martin Cole both of whom are former winners of the Guernsey Open, Martin in 2016 and with Joe the holder from 2022. The Guernsey Team now travel to the UK to play a full International V England Men on the 3rd June. With a slightly different set up this will be a tough task for the Guernsey team. 2 local Girls will also travel and team up with 2 girls from Jersey to form a Channel Island team to face England Ladies at the same time and Venue. The team Darren Ogier (Captain) Paul le Gallez Ian Champion Leon Ogier Luke Bush Adrian Bush Chris Bourgaize Kyran Perkins Robbie Help Bob Chapple Ash Harrison The Girls are Claire Gauvain (Gsy) Carla Allen (Gsy) Jenny Noel (Jsy) Emma Noel (Jsy)
