Game 1 saw Zak unfortunately peg two breaks of 800 that would have given him a handsome lead. However JP took advantage of this misfortune to underline his status as the Nomads form player with several good visits and sealing game 1. Next up Sundays pairing faced off and Zoe got off to a good start with a contribution of 1.5k. Following this Michael twice got the break back first time leaving the one up well short before hitting it thin after adding 2.5k and pegging it. At third time of asking he held his break of 2.7k and after a tight scrap where either player getting the break back could have been crucial - Michael got over the line. Third up Abbey took on Trevor. Despite Abbey having the break Trevor took the early lead and despite Abbey's valiant attempts to catch up, he led for the large majority of the game. However with two minutes left and 600 behind Abbey cleared the table brilliantly to give her the chance to sneak ahead. A great effort of 830 leaving a single white ball for Trevor was enough for a 230 point lead and hence the game and a Nomads win. Following this debutant Bruno "the magic man" Sterner flew out of the blocks with a 1.5k break. Even though he was a last minute replacement he settled wonderfully into his work. From there on Josh seemed frustrated and whenever that little bit of luck was needed it seemed to desert him. Bruno went on to ease to victory with a margin of about 1.5k before the final ball - despite a dangerous 200 shot which left captain Michael with his head firmly rooted in his hands. Finally Jim was up against Shelia. This was a very scrappy affair and Jim's small contributions saw him through. His best stroke was a quite remarkable shot down the left hand side of the table where the red trickled towards the 200 and dropped in. Later in the game Jim also managed to rim the 200 with the white - a great escape. Glad to have you back Jim - even if you and Bruno put your captain through the ringer!!

MVC A 3, Old Oak 2 *Colin 7260, Paul 1100 *Graeme 2730, Martin 1120 Benny 1110, *Clive 4120 *Neil 3090, Charlie 1030 Chris 990, *Nick 1300
All games going with break, but, having said that, Nick felled the black with his opening shot (ball straight at the 200). Peg went in the hole and red landed t'other side of pocket. This had the effect of bamboozling his opponent and very soon all the balls were on the table. With the bar gone Nick needed to pluck up the courage to sink the red and eventually (after two refusals) pulled off a good shot to do so. A good evening, capped with some tasty sarnies/sausage rolls/scotch eggs.

Jolly Bricks 1 Spcc A 4
Ian 1560 John S 2480 John 3530 Tracy 2800 Bob 1530 Dave 3000 Peter 830 Laurie 3660 Mlike 2000 Vern 3130
First up Ian and myself. Ian on and off with a few hundred. Plenty of goes passed a few hundred held a few lost ,a bit tricky. Eventually I Got them back 2 balls down, Missed one, 2 down missed one. My 4 teammates watching the entertainment your meant to show us the way I heard the cry. Ian doing well took the lead but eventually I managed to scrape a break together which gave me the lead near the bar and Scrambled home.
Game 2 John and Tracy. A tight game throughout with plenty of goes each. John managing to master the break better kept his nose in front. Tracy with.a late rally almost got there but the bar came in time for John, and a worthy winner.
Next on Bob and DC. Bob off early gave Dave a chance but he was finding it as tricky. A few more shots and pegs and Dave got them back. Getting the hang of things a bit more a 1500 break gave him a good lead which was enough to take the leg.
Peter and Birthday Boy Laurie on 4th. Very similar to Dave's game, Peter off early but Laurie struggling as well. Shots each then Loz got the balls back and made A 2k break. The game got bogged down at the top of the table until a good clear from Laurie gave him the opportunity he needed and made A winning break.
Last but not least Vern and Mike. To say it was entertaining was an understatement Both players taking the lead great stuff. Plenty of friendly Banter and Wobbly playing some great shots singing along to Genises thumping out on the jukebox. Vern eventually getting the decisive and Mmatch winning break .
A smashing evening with the Bricks boys and Laurie winning on his birthday.
