So the bright yellow shirted AEBBA Team champs turned up at the home of the League Champions and went home empty handed, although they did take away the high break trophy and Nigel was £20 richer, winning his bet with Martin (he paid up but my £2 is still owed Coley) Stags Head B (current Worthing champs) 3-2 Prince of Wales (current AEBBA Team champs) **Chris Tupper 12,880 - 200 Daniel Wheal - brilliant 9990 and touch opener from Tupps gave Dan no chance, once scary moment when the red fell off the spot and Tupps just flicked it with the cue ball and it flew down the 20 pocket. No problems after that and a great start for the hosts Matthew Knight 1300 - 12,050 Chris Cox** - in form Coxy took on out of form (in Worthing) Knight - Coxy sent an early one up well behind, I got them straight back only to get a wicked kick and was off. Neither of us much good trying to get them back until, with one bang behind the 10 hole, Chris played a great shot to get them back and make enough second time with a good break Phil Osborne 10,850 - 4680 Barry Holt** - Barry's woes on the Stag top continue, he also sent an early one up behind. Phil got them straight back and made a brilliant 9850 break, great to see him back in good form and we were now in the driving seat **Nigel Senior 11,850 - 8660 Martin Cole - Summary of this leg is that Nigel never missed a 50/100 split, there were a few oohs and aahs from the away team and from me as a couple of one ups look likely to be either short or go behind but as Nige was chatting to the crowd I think it was safe to say he was in full control, sealing the win with an excellent break of 11,850. Martin made his score with an extremely rapid break Jean Brackenridge 0 - 26,800 Joe Oakley** (Twenty six thousand eight hundred break) as most people will know I am not often lost for something to say, but it is impossible to do Joe's break any justice with words, it was simply incredible and magnificent Joe made the second highest break in Sussex Bar Billiards history (only Steve Mariner has a higher one) Nige will be checking the records but possibly in the top 5 all time breaks, never missed a 100 split and just awesome to watch, well done mate. Poor Jean is sick of playing Joe as he has knocked in a staggering 50k against her in their last 2 legs Possibly a couple more chances that might have been expected tonight and Phil's brilliance in leg 3 the difference Thanks to the Prince for a great night in excellent company, plenty of banter but not as loud as expected Shame the night ended on a sour note with Jim suffering an injury whilst having to remove an extremely unpleasant local hooligan who, quite frankly, is a complete waste of oxygen. Hopefully the injury is not too serious and Jim will be fit for the weekend

Alexandra A 2-3 Stags Head A
James Whittle * 3250 - 8440 (8200 break) Martin Smith. James stayed on the table with a few shots Ian to open with over 2k. Martin first to get them back and made a steady game winning break before touching up.
Bill Harrison * 4150 - 2940 Dave Ingram. Bill standing in for us this week for the 1st time this season (sure he will be playing a few more games for us. Bill opened with 2k and Dave did get them back but off early, then it was plenty of goes each but Bill retained his lead throughout to level the match.
Rick Cunningham * 2070 - 630 Jim Millward. Rick off at 1k and Jim first to get them back and was just coming towards 8k when the red fell off the spot as he hit the break shot and unluckily took the white peg leaving Rick to come away with the win and a lead for the home side.
Steve Aylmore * 1540 - 4740 Geoff Jukes. Steve left them both short on the break and then neither player able to get the break back for a while. Steve did so first and off at 1k, Geoff eventually getting the balls back and levelling the game.
Tony Jenner * 780 - 10100 (8550 break) Mark James. TJ left the red short on first split shot, played 50/30 recovery miles too hard and got the 50 but left the white behind the right hand 30 hole and then went for a risky shot over the 30 pocket again hitting it too hard the 30 spinning out and the other ball left in no man's land between the baulk line and the 50 hole. Mark pure class in clearing that ball and then getting the break back and proceeded to make a faultless match winning break to bring the spoils home for the away side.
As usual a great and sporting evening with the Stags Head A. We certainly had the run of the balls but once again unable to capitalise on that and having all 5 breaks, the home captain has been awful on his own table and it has been just as well our stand in reserves have performed for us.

Personally I’m sure the bar went 5 seconds over the legal limit so I’m happy to start a campaign to have it removed from record.
