A cue has been left at the club today. Ronnie O'Sullivan cue in a gold case. It has been left behind the bar and can be picked up by going to the Salfords club and asking for it.

A great day producing a load of memories. Some "near misses", a maiden 20k break from Christan Cox, and several chase downs.
Those freshest in the mind were of course one of the best ever finals: Curt Driver winning the toss (he won every one, according to Fitz) and putting in Mark James who set the daunting target of 19k. Curt was able to exceed this to land his second Surrey Open title.
Mark had had a stroke of luck in the semi (he lost every toss on the day except for the one against Paul J) when, having set Joe Oakley a 15k target, Joe had overtaken him but, in trying to add a couple of k more, pegged out.
Nigel, having been consigned to the Plate by Surrey local boy Dave Jones, beat Chris Cox in the Final, Chris still bathing in the euphoria of his 20k in the Semi vs Stu Carruthers. Nigel's semi was also a good'un, answering with Barry Radford's 10k with 20k of his own. But what drama in his first round match, when an early miss on his break game let Dave Jones in for 12.5k but a difficult leave causing this to be lost. Nigel, seated and forlorn for 40 minutes is a rare sight, but Dave was able to repeat the score on his break game, keeping them this time: An amazing demonstration of keeping one's cool, Dave explaining to me afterwards he'd simply adjusted his sights from a 6.5k and touch to 12.5k.
So echoing the usual thank yous already given, and the day went like clockwork, ably run by Dave and Caroline Jones on the Admin Desk. Surrey players performed well (well, most of 'em) with 6 in the last 16 and 3 quarter-finalists. Sussex had 8 and 3 respectively. The other counties represented were Kent, Hants, Oxon and Bucks, many thanks to them for their attendance at one of the best events on the calendar.
