It is with an extremely heavy heart that I have to inform you of the death of our very good buddy and teammate Steve King.
I have just come off the phone where his daughter Rebecca (who lives in Peterborough) told me the sad news. I can hardly believe it.
We were all witnesses of his sudden alarming deterioration in health, and I can tell you that he was admitted to hospital last Tuesday (he dialled 999 himself) where he was diagnosed with an aggressive colon cancer, passing away on Sunday 23rd April.
Rebecca will keep us posted with funeral details, the only one known so far is that he will be buried in Snell Hatch cemetery.

Devastatingly sad news indeed. Steve was a great player and I enjoyed many competitive tussles with him. Deepest condolences go to his family.

Steve was a kind and gentle man. He played for many years in Mid Sussex league and was an occasional team mate in Mid Sussex Interleague. I will always remember him with great fondness. Condolences to Steve's family. RIP Steve.

Awfully sad news Steve has passed away so suddenly. Only saw Steve a short while ago at the Windmill and had a chat. We knew he was Very poorly but shocked at the speed. As a lot of people have said what a lovely man. I had known Steve for many years way back to the Crawley league and later at Crawley club. I also played interleague with Steve back in the day and played against him many times. I always Enjoyed a chat and a beer with him and what a great player he was tremendously tough to beat. RIP Steve and all my condolences to family and friends.
