MVC A 4, Old Oak 1 * Graeme 3160, Paul 660 * Neil 2460, Clive 1790 Chris 1500, *Nick 1990 * Benny 3260, Charlie 710 * Colin 2410, Martin 2120Conceding four breaks to the home team who were A league last year ? On a so, so, difficult table .... Where's that Mr Pellett ? I'd like some serious discussion with him ! Nick played well for our point, although Chris had a nice 1k break towards the end and nearly caught him. Charlie had a nice 1.5k break going, but his propensity to live dangerously cost him. Martin was under the cosh for most of the game then fought his way to within 30, breaking down as the bar went. Colin mopped up, his final shot being all three balls down to deny Martin a crack at the 200. The least said about the first two games the better ! Nice food provided, the selection filled 7 tupperware containers.

Last week's two Division A victors, and the two teams who battled for the Division B title last time out, faced off this week looking to carry on their good starts. The Nomads had a couple of changes from the previous week, including a team-debut for James, who played a league debutant in Melissa. Despite the earlier practice, James managed to leave the one-up short (not the worst crime on this table, and far from the worst of the night) which gave Melissa a chance to settle on what is no doubt a tough top to start on. Both players added a few at the back of the table, but James appeared more comfortable and he got the break back a couple of times to add 1.5k and 1.2k. This was enough for him to take the leg. I must also give credit to the LH peg, which took a barrage of abuse but managed to get up each time, may take some time for them to recover!! 1-0 So after an excellent debut for James - who was code named Abbey for the night - his/her father/mother stepped up to put on what can only be described as a display of pure, unbridled luck. Mark made a good stab at the opening break but was unfortunate to peg it and give Jemima the break right back but this is where the fun started. Despite her insistence that this is the easiest break in the world, both balls missed by a proverbial parsec and Mark was back in action! Poor Mark knew it was not going to be his night though, multiple Horsham booms, last-minute drops and little peg kisses went the way of a joyous Jemima, jubilantly she jogged to and from the table, that sparkle in the eye as each break was somehow kept. 3/3 for her, if this carries on we may even have to relent and banish Jemima and welcome the return of Jim!! 2-0 Third on was le monseir de France, Bruno Baguette. Having barely picked up a cue since last season due to the slight inconvenience of a PhD he was given the unenviable task of Dave - le maestro de billiard. Bruno managed a couple of stabs to start, picking up 1.5k while doing his very best Max impersonations. Dave was in no mood for a jolly though, getting the balls back quickly and getting to 3k lead before a rogue split and he was off. The match then proceeded at a snails pace, but some entertainment came when both players went for a ball between the 100 and 200. Dave declared it had rolled slightly off and missed, Bruno then made sure by playing exactly the same shot and declaring that Dave was correct, which caused great laughter from the crowd! Anyway, Bruno had to return to France having been defeated, au revoir mon ami. 2-1 Disclaimer: For anyone who wants to correct my French, please write your comments down on paper, fold it up, tear it in half and throw it away. In the meantime attend, the match isn't over yet...So with Dave pulling a leg back for the visitors it was now up to Dave to give the Nomads a second victory. Tom is known to dislike the Garland top, it may even make his top three, but Dave had to rack up enough anyway. He started with 4k, but a few too many tarty moments (hit it...) and he was off. Tom pegged it before getting the balls back and that allowed Dave to add another 2k. At this point the Wizardly Warrior waited for the time to elapse. Tom got the break back twice, but managed to forget that the break needs a little more pace than his home top. Match victory secured for the table-topping Nomads. 3-1 So last but not least Caroline faced home captain Michael. Caroline struggled, as many had before her, to get going on the break but it was the one-up that proved to be the achilles heel this time around. After a few visits Caroline had added 1.5k, but Michael did manage to get the balls back and made a fairly effortless 7k, just ensuring that he got past Jemima's score, before tapping with a few minutes to go. Caroline managed to get the break back, but four-timed it and Michael had a shot at the 5 figure mark, he cocked it up though and came off - poor show. 4-1 So a very pleasant evening, as is always the case with Salfords B, and the Nomads can be that they've notched up back-to-back 4-1 victories. They are currently at the top of the league and rumour has it that their captain is having a chat with China, apparently they want another go at making the world stop which would, rather happily, leave the Nomads on top!

Chris, I don't have a problem as I don't know what this is all about. I'm sure that Martin recognises a kindred spirit and realises that I am being ironic ! (Have changed my smilie on the original post to a kiss)
