More sad news… another player from more than a few years ago Ray Osborn. A formidable player although sometimes a little bad tempered. Those of you that remember him will no doubt have a memorable story to tell; mine is the time when, being given a lift home from Plumpton after an Inter League match, by Nobby Clark - a very easy going, calm man. Ray was in one of his argumentative moods and got so far up Nobby’s nose he stopped the car in Hangleton and told Ray ( and his wife ) to get out and walk the rest of the way….I believe he was living in East Preston at the time time!! Had some great games with Ray and his doubles partner Gerry Skinner …. R.I.P. old pal and sincere condolences to his family.

Knew Ray from the old days and Terry has summed him up perfectly. Certainly a tough opponent but temper was always boiling under the surface. RIP Ray.
