Three comps 3 Roffey sc A 2
Nobby 5420 pete 1110 Porge 1970 Twig 1310 Colin 1240 John 5800 Mick 2790 Steve 920 Steve 1830 Moose 2550
First up Pete and Nobby. Pete off early leaving the balls up gave Nobby an early chance and he made 1 5 k break. Plenty of goes interspersed with pegs and the game got bogged down. Eventually nobby got Them back again and made a telling break to run out a good winner.
Leg 2 skipper and Porge what a leg with both players struggling to make any headway on a tricky top. Loads of attempts to pot a ball to no avail. Chances galore but Porge scrapping it out for the frame 2-0
Third on me and Sparrow. On I went and off I came. Again plenty of goes but balls back and stacks of Side and he presto a few balls potted. Somehow I managed to string together a 3k break and a few more Added playing back to front made things respectable. One frame back.
Sniffer and Mick on next. Steve off early and Mick grafted out a few points . Again plenty of goes but a Good break put Mick in control. Steve next to get the balls back but left them up. Mick finished the frame Off 3-1.
Last but not least Moose and Steve. Yet again a real slog but Steve had the upper hand until Moose got Them back and a reverse break of 2k made all the difference and retrieved a leg.
A lovely evening at the compasses in great company and our team thoughts were for Ding. .

Railway 2, Windmill GG 3 Lee 1110, Clive 1760 Grant 1690, Graham BP Colin 1870, Mick 1060 Scott 1890, Paul 2830 Lee (4plyr) 1250, Johnny 2380
Game 1: Tommo nothing off break but built a useful lead of c.400. Lee got going mid game and caught me up and overtook. He then had a well compiled break of c.300 going which would probably have seen me off, but unluckily pegged it. Encouraged, I read the table better after that and was able to close down. Game 2: Grant maintained the lead throughout, but Graham got within reach as the bar went. With the red and one white left, he needed to pot one and leave one up for a chance at the 200 but both stayed up. Grant put the red away and Graham tried the 200 to see what might have been, but toppled the BP. Game 3: Mick tried reverse break and got one in but struggled after that. A back of table battle ensued with Colin demonstrating more 'stickability' Game 4. Best of the evening, with Paul banking a useful score from his first visit. Half the game had gone as Scott drew level showing a mastery of the break shot, but the birthday boy was not to be denied and finished with some panache. Game 5. The 'foreplay' rule was invoked and Lee got a second go. But Johnny kicked off with 800 and played with confidence after that, making the table look easy. Lee got going towards the end and we were somewhat relieved that he didn't have to play a third leg !
So Johnny secured our match win for the second week running but the Railway stay a 0.5pt ahead of us. Some jollity towards the end as we recalled an amusing incident from the past at the Green Dragon, involving Jim Morley, a fruit machine and a soft porn star. An enjoyable evening, capped with the usual generous display of food from Nathan.
