Windmill GG 4, Alfold SC 1 What an evening - I've never known such pathetic opponents in all the cue sports matches I've ever played. A couple of the home players chose to have a bit of practice before the match, as they are entitled too, and were off easily before the match start time. Graham played an excellent leg and took full advantage of the chances he was given, making a massively confidence boosting score. His opponent wasn't impressed though that he'd had a practice before and didn't even acknowledge him at the end of the game (let alone offer a drink). Then (and during) came a torrent of foul language and general verbal abuse aimed at those players who had had a practice beforehand - from one person in particular. To add to that the four other games were dead close and what should have been a good evening with some really tight matches became unpleasant, intimidatory and incredibly uncomfortable. Oh and I was blanked when offering a handshake before the start of my game, talk of good etiquette!!

Easy Tiger ! It was put to me that as champions we shouldn't need to 'practice' before playing last years' spoonists, and I think they have a point. Personally, I prefer the Sudbury concept of offering the visitors the chance of go on it beforehand.
Mea Culpa ! I arrived later than usual, too late to prepare the table (it had a slight right hand roll which I have since corrected) and forgot to offer my counterpart the chance to test its level with a few balls left in the tray.
To add, that, as President, I am mortified by what has occurred, especially as, to quote part of Rule 2) our purpose is " to promote the idea of being The Friendly League" -ct

Rssc A 5 Railway 0
Rick L 1360 Grant 1060 Steve 4470 Scott 2330 John 6270 Lee 1340 Moose 10490 Colin 1580 Pete 4780 Grant 1050 (4 player)
First up new sub for captain Rick v Grant. What a struggle of a frame it was. I have never watched a frame with So many shots for each player. The game ground out to a finale where amazingly Grant had a shot at the 200 To draw but missed. Rick potted the 100 first go 1 nil.
Next on Sniffer and Scott. Scotty off with the break and off fairly early chance for Steve but no. Game then got Bogged down at the top with plenty of goes. Eventually Steve got to grips with the top and a fine 3k break to the Bar was enough to win the leg.
Me and Lee on next and lee soon off gave me a chance 1.5 k but off. As before we ended up chasing balls around The top to no avail. Eventually I cleared up and made 4k break and leg was secure.
4th on Moose and Colin. A few goes each and Lee cleared the balls and 4k break. Colin not having much luck and With Moose playing some good stuff added another 3k. One last good break and Lee past 10 grand superb frame.
Grant for the second bash v Pete. Pete's break but off early gave Grant a chance. A few more goes each and Pete Next to get them back and a fine 3k put him in pole position. Determined Pete grafted out a great leg and secure The frame.
Lovely friendly evening with the Railway lads and a great win for us. Can Captain Twig get his place back. He's chauffeur Next week so yes 🤣🤣🤣
