Evening all, Going slightly more high-tec again this year. We have created the following link, which will provide you with live data to our spreadsheets as soon as we update them over the course of the weekend. You will just need to refresh, or change to another tournament tab for the data to appear. These are already live therefore feel free to take a look (yes, aware Plate Last 8 is currently down - will fix in time) Whilst we are building our new website we have sub-let a page from the St Saviours Bowls club, therefore feel free to browse that site as well if you wish! Why can I not find the name of the GOAT in either of the last 64 Main or last 48 Plate draws ?

He came third in his group and is involved in a play-off with JB who appears in the draw in main and plate.

Final:
MJ 5620 TG 80 MJ 10360(break back.... Missed the start of the final, just saw Matt struggling at the back, 100 splits flying in. Rumours of a kick finishing his opener. 3k up. Jonesy not at full speed, lost maybe 2/3 minutes at the back. What can he set? 5k up. 100 splits cruising in still, a couple of reds struggling but back to going cleanly now. 8k up. Quick clock check from Matt, bar can't be too far away. 10k up. BAR. And tap up) TG 50 MJ 0 TG 100 final ball at second attempt
Leg 1 MJ 15,980 - 230 TG
Here we go will it be third times the charm for Trevor? He's been the losing finalist the last two years remember...
TG 2100 (Struggling early on the 50, one popped out but fortunately went back in! One up just drops. He's off! 50-30 gone all wrong.) MJ 1710 (Balls back, it's over. Two time champion incoming! Fat split and a little bit of back of the table bother, but he's back on the break now. Tapped up.) TG 250 (Can't get them back. The handshake is offered. Heartbreak again for Guernsey's finest.)
Leg 2 MJ 1710 - 2350 TG
Final score: MJ 17690 - 2580 TG
Jonesy takes his second world title, it's been due for him and a "relatively early" pairs exit (by his incredibly high standards) meant there was no stopping him today. A well deserved title, many more will come his way no doubt.

And another former champ goes, Warrior has his sword blunted by Jim Balchin by 120 points! Not quite sure where you got the figure of 120 points from Chris, it was more like 1,800 and my "sword" was nearly broken into multiple pieces after the experience! Aside from that, it was another brilliant weekend in Jersey, lots of close games, a few more "big shocks" than is perhaps normal during the competitions and with worthy winners claiming the prizes at the end of the weekend. A huge thank you to Sean, Graeme, Nigel and the other people that helped to organise another great competition, to the Merton Hotel for their brilliant support and hospitality over the whole weekend and to everyone who took part this year. I thought that the atmosphere during the event was amazing.

What a super long weekend of bar billiards, I enjoyed every moment of it, from comfortable flights (despite adverse weather predictions) to the comfortable Merton Hotel with great food, an impeccably run set of competitions and a plethora of friendly characters, many of whom have been in from the start in the early 80's. So great thanks are due to the organising body of Graeme Le Monnier, Sean Le Beuvant et al and Nigel Ryall who has apparently sold the tables on but remains in the background, offering his help. A word at this stage for Kev Hall who was taken ill just as he was about to board the plane and was taken to hospital. Mum Lorraine confirms that it was an attack of food poisoning and he is going to be all right. Also hope those who came by boat will make it back okay tomorrow after being obliged to stay another night on the island. Congratulations to all who won prizes, and I am proud to report that my Redhill compadres came away with five, punching above our weight ! Big up to Geoff Jukes (S/F), Colin Robbins (Q/F) David Jones (Last 16), Sue Oakley (Special Lady Award) and the irrepressible Max Burt (Most Meritorious Performance). This was most deserved as he was one of the 28 early stage Group Winners, the other 27 all being recognised 'big names'. Also in our party Gary Powell and Karen Bacchus reached the last 8 of the Plate and John Miller, Jim Balchin and of course Max made the last 32 of the main competition. A final word on the late Sunday-night Karaoke with good efforts from the usual suspects (Ash, Joe O with Martin Cole, KT, Curt, Nigel, Martin Smith) as well as Hoppo, Jim 'Johnny Cash' Balchin, the Ingram brood and "Elvis plus Gin and Tonic" from Guernsey. But this year it was young Max who stole the show, giving a highly entertaining rendition of Shania Twain's "Man I Feel Like A Woman" with good body movements which will stay in the memory for many years to come !!
