Tommo’s Big Popper 6 Everyone seems to like Pop – I mean up to about the 1990’s when with one or two exceptions it turned into Pap. Tunes from the sixties will live on far longer than some of the stuff which is served up now under the guise of music – gangsta rap for instance. Anyway, here’s an abundance of questions for you – 50 more in Quiz Six – and questions will get progressively more difficult as we go on. I am setting a limit too – no more than 10 questions can be answered in one span of four hours. This is to give everyone a chance. Anyone who contravenes this will have 2pts taken off for every one by which they exceeded the limit !

Can't believe Stormin took number 251 out from under me :'( :'( I think I know why though, he is also a secret admirer of the Osmonds ;D ;D Kev is being very tight-lipped and not helping me with the older questions. I know the tunes - from listening to my Mum's records! So, just a paltry seven from me, they is all a bit before my time.
253. Boris Pickett and the Crypt Kickers (Mum's) 256. Mouldy Old Dough - Leiutenant Pidgeon (one of my Nanna's favourites) 260. Barry White 266. Shirley ?????something????? (277. The Graduate. I haven't seen this film and have been looking round for it recently. If anyone got a copy, could I borrow it plz ;D)

254 Stephanie De Sykes and I think the band was called Rain or wind or something. 257 Presented by Ed 'stewpot' Stewart I'll have a go at Morningtown by The Seekers. 262 Mozarts Symphony no 40 I think he also did Beethoven's Ode to Joy as well. 268 Popcorn by Hot Butter 1969 from the Album Music to Moog By. 269 A Ghetto Child 1973ish. 270 Etta James, maybe! (my favorite of his though is Jeremiah Peabody's Polyunsaturated Quick-Dissolving, Fast-Acting Pleasant-Tasting Green and Purple Pills) 271 Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman. 272 Chad Stewart & Jeremy Clyde, from the Album of the same title. 273 I think was Catch the Wind. 1965ish. 275 Bobby Hebb.

Now to Sir Jock on his quest to once again catch Wolfman....... 254 Sir KT got there 5hrs earlier ! 257 Presented by Ed 'stewpot' Stewart I'll have a go at Morningtown by The Seekers. Morningtown Ride - correct, 1.5pts 262 Mozarts Symphony no 40 I think he also did Beethoven's Ode to Joy as well. Correct, worth 2pts 268 Popcorn by Hot Butter 1969 from the Album Music to Moog By. Sir KT @6.38pm 269 A Ghetto Child 1973ish. ditto 270 Etta James, maybe! (my favorite of his though is Jeremiah Peabody's Polyunsaturated Quick-Dissolving, Fast-Acting Pleasant-Tasting Green and Purple Pills) nope - it was Bridget the Midget in the Ray Stevens novelty record. No bonus as I'm not one to encourage that drug-taking malarky. ;) 271 Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman. Correct, 1.5pts as it wasn't really a 2-pt question. 272 Chad Stewart & Jeremy Clyde, from the Album of the same title. Way off-beam there. 273 I think was Catch the Wind. 1965ish. 270 - Bridget the Midget (size IS not important) 271 - Nicky Chinn & Mike chapman 289 - Just like Eddie (Eddie Cochrane) 296 - Honey - Bobby Goldborough ? Can only give you 1.5pts for that lot, Stormin' and that's for 271 which you got nearly the same time as Jock. 296 surprisingly is incorrect and the other two were got a couple of hours ago by Craig. 1.5pts to Stormin'271. Nicky Chinn & Mike Chapman 272. Cupids Inspiration 275. Georgie Fame 290. Elusive Butterfly 271 - 1.5pts as for Jock and Stormin'. 272 - Well done, 1pt 275 - It was Bobby Hebb's creation, but it's true that Georgie Fame also released a cover version. So 0.5pts 290 - Correct, 1pt. no mention of Val Doonican's cover version? ;) Perhaps not. ;D 4pts to Sir KT* plus a point to go on for Dave May for 287 the Jordinaires. * Leaderboard: 1. Stormin' 26.5pts 2. Sir KT 17pts 3. Lady H 9.5pts 4. CraigC 8pts 5. Sir Jock'o'the Strap 6pts 6. Q 2pts 7. DaveMay 1pt

276 Stephen John Ellis, best sing of theirs in my limited and humble opinion was Everlasting Love, before some numpty turned it into a dance track.
280 Brian Matthew he did 'Easy Beat' as well.
286 I think that was Keith Skues (nicknamed cardboard shoes), thanks to my dad for that one!
295 is The Groover, Marc Bolan & T-Rex

Not many left ! To score Jock's latest answers: 276 Stephen John Ellis, best sing of theirs in my limited and humble opinion was Everlasting Love, before some numpty turned it into a dance track. Correct, 1pt plus bonus 1pt for that sentiment - one which I share. "Out Of Touch" by Hall and Oates is another example of a memorable track ruined by plagiarisation. Also, quite recently, "Breakfast in America" by Supertramp has received the same treatment. Scandalous ! 280 Brian Matthew he did 'Easy Beat' as well. Correct, 1.5 incl. info. bonus. 286 I think that was Keith Skues (nicknamed cardboard shoes), thanks to my dad for that one! Incorrect but will allow a "no, dad" bonus point as it's a 2-pointer. 295 is The Groover, Marc Bolan & T-Rex Correct for 2pts. Sir Jock increases his tally by 6.5pts
Leaderboard: 1. Stormin' 26.5pts 2. Sir KT 17pts 3. Sir Jock'o'the Strap 12.5pts 4. Lady H 9.5pts 5. CraigC 8pts 6. Q 2pts 7. DaveMay 1pt

Wolfman gets in in the nick of time as I had plans to close this one. 286 - Keith Fordyce earns you 2pts. 292 and 296 are also correct and earn a further 2pts each, as the correct song title and band have been given in each case.
293 will have to be "the one that got away" - it is Burn Baby Burn - a minor hit for Hudson Ford which peaked at number 14 during March 1974.
Final table: 1. Stormin' 26.5pts 2. Sir KT 17pts 3. Sir Jock'o'the Strap 12.5pts 4. Lady H 9.5pts 5. CraigC 8pts 6. Wolfman 6pts 7. Q 2pts 8. DaveMay 1pt
