Roll up, roll up
The most comical set of results follow for the Caxton v Moulescoombe Club.
Reg Perrin 1680 v Martin Parsons 1660 Shaun Oxley 250 v Dave Lee 1810 Dayle Ledbury 2670 v Colin Green 1350 Peter Gwilliam 430 v Tim Scotney 1750 Paul Bramhall 30 v Phil Reay 1990
So a 2v3 on a table that the as at least a bit interesting, to which Colin fully agreed. But good spirits prevailed throughout

Duke of Wellie 4 Master Mariner 1
Mike Daw 5890 v 4820 Moppy - game of the night first up, Moppy settled really well and opened with nearly 3k, Mike got them back and looked comfortable on the chase until a firm split whipped and took the peg. Moppy added another 1k and then Mike set off again, only this time made an excellent score Dave R 7840 v 390 Steve- No joy for Steve who was off early, Dave made two good breaks Tupps 5550 v 1600 - Bob off early and never got going, Tupps always in control Mick W 7380 v 1170 DJ - same as the last game , DJ off early, Mick played well KT 1860 v 3120 Gary - Shock of the night ? After Gary’s initial break balls decided to gather behind the left 50 pocket. Some interesting shots then followed and with 3 minutes left and me almost clearing the table, the bar decided to drop early, but legal , so well done Gary. My first defeat of the season 😕 Great night as usual with the MM boys

Blue Anchor 5-0 Bevy Joe Oakley 10,100 - 1720 Kevin Stoner** Rick Cunningham 9240 - 4290 Ellis Candy** Chris Cox 10,680 - 810 Ashley Edwards** Matthew Knight 6690 - 5840 Dougie Dawson** **Tony Jenner 11,950 - 2680 Ashley Edwards (4 player) Valentines Day date night and Gravel "buzzing" in the Isle of Wight decimated the visitors team so they only had 4. Still very noisy with a couple of them "vandalising" the home captain's windscreen wipers after the match On the table Kev off early pegging on the break shot, did the ball move on the spot? Joe not messing around with a 10k break in blistering time, then got them back and pegged another 9k when he looked like getting a near 21k total score Ellis with plenty of chat next to go against Rick, Rick basically battered him after Ellis was off early. Rick with a rapid fire 5k until another mysterious miss on the break, adding a few more after Ellis had blown another chance No mercy either from Chris against another fella with plenty of chat, the mighty Ash - he was blown away after missing early. Even time for Coxy to lose another 5k later on Doug (the quiet one) the stand out player for the Bevy on the night, but was struggling with his back and missed on 4k, giving me a chance to nick an undeserved win in the last minute or so The last saw the Jenneral aka known as the Irish Fly-Half for the night due to an extremely bright green top , going off with the break, not many first up but no mercy after that giving poor old Ash another thrashing. He was still giving it large though Thanks to everyone for a loud, entertaining and great night, ending, inevitably with loads of shots guaranteeing the sports"man" vote from the Bevy, cheers Beckster

Local derby sees the 'home' team come out on top
New Oak A 4 - 1 New Oak B
Ian Lelliott 8,880 - 2,300* Sandra Hall Phil Osborne 6,360 - 5,070* Alan Brackenridge Bob Osborne 2,030 - 6,970* Jean Brackenridge Marc Chipman 5,940 - 2,970* Lorraine Hall Nigel Senior 15,080 - 1,810* Stu Carruthers
In leg 1, Sandra was off early on around 500 leaving both balls short on the break. Ian settled in and made a nice winning break first go. 1-0
Leg 2, Phil went down and Jean put on big Al. Al had a couple of peg wobbles but made a handy first break of just shy of 5k. A couple of goes each before Phil got the balls back. Phil struggled to settle but began to look better as he drew level. It was then he hit a split too thin a missed both. A couple of nervy visits from both as time was running short, but Phil got them back and secured a 2-0 lead for the A's 2-0
Leg 3 Jean went down to play Bob but could make only around 600 from the break. No balls back for Bob and Jean made another 4k. Then another break but the game beyond Bob and the B's stayed in the game 2-1
Leg 4 Loraine's break against Marcus, as Marcus set about taking the pressure off captain Nige. Lorraine struggling with the break shot and stayed on to make 1,200 but took her around 5 mins. Marcus got the balls back first time and although nervy kept it together to make a fine 5k. Lorraine did get the balls back to give herself a slim chance but the deficit proved to many 3-1
Leg 5 Stu unfortunately got caught out by the break shot and was off after 100. Nige also missed the break first go but recovered it to go in with 10k. 4-1
A good performance by the A's as hard giving away all 5 breaks to the B's on their home table. After 10 wins from 11, you might think by now that Ian might have started to believe we could lift the title. I am more determined to win now as if we do win the rest of the team believe he must come to the presentations to pick up his trophy, where he must wear trousers not his shorts!

Ian being a Scottish name, he could always wear a kilt. Or as a stand against the dress code, maybe his Ice Cream Man's Apron over the strides !
