Noted.
Can I just say it was asked if there was any update on this two and a half weeks ago but there was no response (on proboards at least). Notifying players of their fixture a week before it is being played (especially when the previous round was completed almost six weeks ago!) is a bit of a piss take.
I appreciate that this was noted as a competition date at the start of the season, but I cannot guarantee (especially as I don't play every week) that I'd be available without some reasonable notice of a fixture being arranged on such a date. As it happens I have a long-standing work commitment so wouldn't have been available regardless, but I think there should be as much notice as possible for players regarding the date of their fixtures.

For someone who has played his first season in Worthing i find this post a rather large ''piss take''. Competition nights are set out on the start of the season. We do draws on committee monthly meetings, I understand you do not play every Thursday but instead of being a big man behind a keyboard could you not speak to the committee and we can work together to find a free competition night. If you feel that hard done by i will happily send a £1 back to Redhill and withdraw you from the competition. Kind regards Joe oakley WDBBL Competition secretary

Kind regards Joe oakley WDBBL Competition secretary Hi Joe, there is no need for anyone to get upset about things and none of these posts were really needed to sort this out. Yes, it would have been helpful to have the date made known earlier for us to enable us to arrange an alternative date and given us all some more time to play the game, however I have sent a message to Chris that offers some alternatives dates and, hopefully, we can go ahead with one of those. Obviously, I will let you know as soon as anything can be arranged between us. Thanks, Dave

I think it would be fair to say that our pairs game at the Old House tonight could be described as having plenty of opportunities for all 4 players.... and one of the most unusual endings to any game (Its not often that even "Silent" is totally lost for words! 🤣
However, I will try to explain what happened.
Leg 1 After Michael and I won the toss, we opted to break first. I had a few excursions around the table but managed to reach 7.5k before breaking down at the back of the table. A couple of good shots from Chris and he got the break back, with plenty of time to catch our score.... however his 2nd one up just slid round the back of the hole and he was off. Michael got the break back and played the rest of the table out with 6k plus.
Leg 2 Dan to break, having not had a shot in the first leg and he was caught out on his first split after catching it tò thick and leaving both balls up. Michael managed to clear the ball up the middle with a very good shot and then spent a couple of minutes at the back of the table chasing the last ball around before coming off. Chris and I both missed but Dan got the break back and, after a slightly tentative start, he settled down and made a nice 7k break to level the match. Michael finished the game off.
Leg 3 So, on to the decider with Michael choosing to go first.... only for him to miss both balls on his first split shot. Balls back for Chris, only for him to come off on 1.5k. We all had a go but I was the first one to get the break back. I can't begin to explain how I stayed on the table, beyond saying that for every good shot I played there was a lucky one! Somehow I managed to get to 7k and the "nothing silly" instruction came from my partner, so I potted a ball on the 50 hole.... went to repeat that shot again, totally miscued the ball and it ended up at least 4 inches short of the object ball - break obviously lost! 😱
A stunned silence is the only way that I can describe what followed that miss. Dan got the break back, made just over 2k and touched and touched to take a 2-1 win.
Many thanks to Ian and Matthew for scoring the games for us and good luck to both pairs in the Final. 😉

It can happen to the best of us, Dave. Just goes to show that perhaps you're human after all ...
