Connections II - A follow-on from the theme started by Sir Jock o'the Strap............. But these Connections are - to say the least - unlikely !
1 What fate has been shared by the wren and the ship ? 2 What have the following in common ? syllepsis, zeugma, chiasmus, prolepsis ? 3 What is the link between Oliver Cromwell's face and Tom Sawyer's hands ? 4 What have the following in common ? Dress, hunting, Old, and Prince Charles Edward ? 5 What have Yorkshire, Richmond, Abridge and Cranham in common ? 6 What have Shooting, Sugar, Shaving, Walking, Candle and Lip in common ? 7 What connects Marble Arch with the Brighton Pavilion ? 8 Foreman, longman, lechman and littleman are always neighbours; who or what are they, and which one is missing ? 9 What have the following in common ? Precious, Staghorn, Brain, Mushroom, Cup, Soft, Branching and Rose ? 10 What connects "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" with 007 ? 11 What have Edward VII, Belle de Boskoop and D'Arcy Spice in common ? 12 Campto means bent, Stego means cover, Allo means other, Brachio means arm: Apart from being Greek, what else do they have in common ? 13 How do you connect Black Coffee with Monsieur Hercule Poirot ?
1pt for each. No restrictions apply. Good Luck ! You may need it !

Regg3y is correct on No.10, (1pt)
H&J, will have to score your answers individually:
5. pudding springs to mind, but then so does Tea - What, when you're in church ? ::) ::) ::) ;D
6. canes - Will give you half point for that, the correct answer is stick. I've never heard of a shooting cane, nor a shaving cane, nor a candle cane - nor even a lip cane. ;)
7. was it the same designer architect nash correct, John Nash. 1pt
8. Thuma, they are fingers and thumb Correct, they're the old names. 2pts as you answered both parts.
9. they are all corals Correct, 1pt
13. one of his cases Just enough for the full point. Agatha Christie is the link, she wrote the play Black Coffee and Poirot was the detective who found out whodunnit.

1. Both have been sent to sea. A bit of an obvious connection, that one, Regg3y (whereas the theme of this quiz is unlikely connections). However, I can't deny that Wrens do go to sea and I'm sure you have first-hand experience of that fact. ;) So 0.5pt. The answer really is that they have both been de-monetised : The wren was on a farthing and the ship was on an old halfpenny. Leaderboard: 1 H & J 5.5pts 2 Regg3y 1.5pts

3 warts? 4 are they all tartans? 5 are they candles? 11 Lily Langtry's lovers...!! 12 dinosaur name prefixes 3. Correct. Covered in 'em. 1pt 4. All names of Stewart tartans, actually. Correct, 1pt 5. the church theme was a correct one, but no, they're not candles. 11. I like this answer, although only the Edward VII part is correct, as D'Arcy Spice was around in 1785 and Belle de Boskoop dates from 1856. 'The Jersey Lily' lived from 1853-1929. The common link is apples. Half-a-point awarded as it gives me the chance to say that Lily Langtree is supposed to be the inspiration for The Who's Pictures Of Lily. And for good measure, here's a picture of Jersey's Lilli, which runs around St Aubins Bay : 12. Saurus being the link, well done, 1pt *Bringing a quiet end to this one now, the missing answers were: 2) - all figures of speech; 5) - all Hymn Tunes ! Final table: 1 H & J 5.5pts 2 Barbelman 3.5pts 3 Regg3y 1.5pts
