Excellent night at the Schooner saw the Stadium win the shield from the Elms A 3-2 on the deciding game. As a neutral a cracking evening, the hostess laying on a fabulous spread, competitive bar billiards, and gentle background music.
Well done to the Stadium and unlucky to the Elms. Hopefully all had a good evening, and from a neutral point of view, what a great match.
Sure somebody far more comp-en mentos than me at this of night ( especially when the landlady forgets to shut) will post the details.

A few details to embellish bigtj's report: Game 1 - Stadium captain Ian Lelliott had won the toss and chose the break in games 2 & 4, he was rewarded when Vern Blake missed both balls on the opening shot. Ian established a lead which he was never to relinquish, despite putting the one-up behind, something which was to cause a problem for almost all the players during the evening. Game 2 - Martin Smith lost his 1500 opener when his one-up took the right-hand peg (see above), and a very scrappy game ensued. Both players had a shot at the last-ball 100 for the win, John Hayward got it at the second attempt to make the match score 1-1 Game 3 - Dave France established an early 3k lead over Grant Tully. Grant had two chances in the latter stages, but the one-up going behind thwarted him too. Game 4 - Mark James opened with a painstaking 4k, Chris Scott got the break back immediately and looked good to overhaul it until he too put the one-up behind on 3k. Mark closed out the game from there. 2-2 Game 5 - The decider featured Tony Lewis v Pete Mansfield. Tony had the early lead after both players opening breaks, but Pete got it back to put himself in front by almost 1000. Tony kept his nerve, however, and retrieved the balls, then stayed there long enough to put the game away. The band with whom we shared top-billing were the Bushman Brothers, see here for details www.bushmanbrothers.com/ Check them out, tommo. An excellent evening of the blues, should be a regular feature at bar billiards matches! Though our only collective disappointment was that Swan's Terry Denyer wasn't there, as his reaction would have been an entertainment in itself....

Yes indeed the Brothers were very good, and it certainly would have been worth paying money to see Terry Ds` face. Advantage was the Swans though as most of them only had to turn the deaf aids off.

Is that what the vibrations were, thought somebody had disappeared to the loo.
Did see the smile on one or two faces as the floor moved.
