Nothing but commendations this week (Wk 15) - which is how it should be ! There's a new table at the top, which would suggest that wherever you stick Ros's table - even out in the car park - scores will be good on it. Greyhound, Handcross and CKRBL go down a place - but it is only one as there were no games on those tables last night. Next week it's Team Cup, with games on the following tables: St Francis; Plough; Handcross; Hurstpierpoint; Brewers; Laughing Fish; White Horse and HHUSC.
1 Sportsman (8 Bells) 2 Greyhound 3 Laughing Fish 4 Hurstpierpoint 5 Handcross 6 Brewers 7 United Services 8 Watermill 9 Clayton&Keymer 10 St Francis 11 White Horse 12 Royal Oak 13 Plough
The commendations came from: Sportsman (@8 Bells) - (Home) BB Warrior 6890; (Away) H 9750 Hurstpierpoint - Bobhall 9530, also 5k's from Lady H and PapaHall Brewers - JollyTallFarmer 9750; MamaHall 6230; Sir Jock 8890 HHUSC - (Home) Sparky 10,030; (Away) Dilly 5k and Dereck 6k. Watermill - (Away team) Neil Burchell 5990 St Francis - (Away team) MrMike007 5790

It remains static at the top, with no games on the top three tables in this round of Team Cup/Plate matches. Handcross and Brewers I table both benefit at the expense of the much-maligned-since-Christmas Hurst table, where there was only one score over 3k. By contrast, H scored 6830 at Handcross and Sir KT put in a rare appearance and grabbed 6840 at Brewers - where there were three other scores of just under 5k. The new table at the Plough was enjoyed by both BB Warrior (6260) and Johnny Haigh (6820) so moves off the bottom, where Royal Oak will probably now remain, the team having moved to the Brewers to play on table II. Only other movement is between White Horse and St Francis - "poor scoring" there, according to Jock, whilst Sparky managed the top score of the week of 8130 at the White Horse.
1 Eight Bells (ex-Sportsman) 2 Greyhound 3 Laughing Fish 4 Handcross 5 Brewers I 6 Hurstpierpoint 7 United Services (New) Brewers II 8 Watermill 9 Clayton&Keymer 10 White Horse 11 St Francis 12 Plough 13 Royal Oak

I know its a bit of fun but I for one last night went out to win comfortably, not to knock in a big score - probably could've had a bit more last night if I was thinking of the average, but since it was a cup match I was just looking for the win for the team - I imagine I was far from the only person thinking like that last night so perhaps the lower scoring all round can be put down to that - but it also means can we truly get a picture of which tables were playing better on the night?
(Note. I am just making this as a sort of topic for discussion, not questioning the validity of the ladder - I for one find it very interesting to see the tables move around every week!)

Don't forget the big scores made at the White Horse last week Tommo...... that we only found out about from the weekly report from the Old Fella! 3 scores above 5k and a 10k score must be worth a lift up the table surely...... ??? ;D
Large quote removed in the interests of space saving - tommo.

A week late, I know, but adjustment to tables table required as pointed out by the BB Warrior in view of these cracking performances at the White Horse:
Mark Webber 8880 break and a final score of 10210; 7780 from Keith Potter and 6900 from Geoff Parsons, all for League Leaders the Plough. 5930 from Trevor Howes of the home team.
1 Eight Bells (ex-Sportsman) 2 Greyhound 3 Laughing Fish 4 Handcross 5 Brewers I 6 Hurstpierpoint 7 United Services (New) Brewers II 8 Watermill 9 White Horse 10 Clayton&Keymer 11 St Francis 12 Plough 13 Royal Oak

probably could've had a bit more last night if I was thinking of the average, but since it was a cup match I was just looking for the win for the team It is true that this extra constraint comes in where Team Cup games are concerned. When the match rests on you, and you have a ball smack bang in front of the 50 hole, the tendency is to shun the split on a neutral table and straight pot - to try and ensure some runs on the board so that you have a lead that you can then defend. But this 'no risks' culture can also come into it in a league match where there is an extra bonus point for winning the match. So really, with more similarities between League/Cup than with either of those to the Charity Cup, I thought it best to include them. There's be withdrawal symptoms otherwise. ;) ;D

Late addition following Old Fella's writeup:
HHUSC gets a 'commendation' (bold highlight) thanks to Lynn Storr's fine 5290 on the table (- a BP ?). In the match with Plough, Geoff Parsons and Malc Fuller also topped 4k.

Week 16 - the first of the second half of the programme, and the Sportsman table seems to have settled straightaway into its new home the Eight Bells, and remains top thanks to Zeds' Graham Daniels (5380) and of course the BB Warrior (6780). The Brewers 'prime' table has attained the dizzy height of 4th place in a high-scoring home derby (6390 for Paul Moyes-Robb; 5570 for Andy Farmer-Wright and a fine 9370 to the Jockster) Handcross with no match can only drop one place so the newly-spruced-up Hurst remains down in sixth but earning a commendation through H's record score of 17,440 which included a break of 14,410. Likewise, commendations for HHUSC (Sparky 5520, John Lear 6880, and Dazza 9840(8020 break)) - and the new table out the back of the Brewers where the Royals now play and Keith Potter plundered 6330. The ever-improving White Horse swaps over with the Watermill: 5400 from Colin Mansfield and 5360 from Peter Edwards at the Horse, whereas there was trouble at t'Mill in a derby match where no score topped 5k. Finally, St Francis slips below Plough - but through no fault of the skipper it has to be said - as the table has been deliberately targeted and vandalised by an outsider who bears a grudge.
1 Eight Bells 2 Greyhound 3 Laughing Fish 4 Brewers (Bravos/Droops) 5 Handcross 6 Hurstpierpoint 7 United Services 8 Brewers (Royals) 9 White Horse 10 Watermill 11 Clayton&Keymer 12 Plough 13 St Francis

I'm sorry. I don't mean to start a riot but having played on all but one of the tables above the Hurst Club top I can safely say none of them, including my own top, are anywhere near as good as it is so is should have gained more places than it has...but all in good fun I know...just thought I should say something!

Don't Worry H it will get there plenty of time yet ;D Very true, especially considering they have double the opportunity of all their rivals ( except Brewers) who only have a home game on the table every other week. Minor adjustment needed after the St Francis match report came in: SpecialOne managed 5130 so the table goes up one instead of down a place:1 Eight Bells2 Greyhound 3 Laughing Fish 4 Brewers (Bravos/Droops)5 Handcross 6 Hurstpierpoint 7 United Services 8 Brewers (Royals) 9 White Horse 10 Watermill11 St Francis12 Clayton&Keymer 13 Plough

Hardly any change at all in Week 17. The Greyhound go top, with 5500 from Home player Neil Burchell and excellent Eight Bells performances from BB Warrior (12,890) and Ros Appleby a 3830 break, currently the highest by a lady away from home. Laughing Fish, Brewers I, Handcross and Hurst all had commendations but remain rooted in position as the Eight Bells, with no match, can't slip more than one place. The new Plough table, with only 3 scores above 2k, remains at the bottom. CKRBL gains a place, with two fine 'home' scores: 7750 from Dereck Taylor and 10,220 from Dilly Williamson.
1 Greyhound 2 Eight Bells 3 Laughing Fish 4 Brewers (Bravos/Droops) 5 Handcross 6 Hurstpierpoint 7 United Services 8 Brewers (Royals) 9 White Horse 10 Watermill 11 Clayton&Keymer 12 St Francis 13 Plough
The other commendations: Laughing Fish - H Brooks 9920; A Brooks 5530; A Bateup 6350. Brewers - A. Farmer-Wright 5510 Handcross - B.Timson 5370; M.Holmwood 5250; tommo 5000. Hurst - D.Skinner 7780

Week 18 and there's just enough to warrant a new table, though there could yet be changes to the bottom four once we have seen this weeks scores from the Watermill B and St Francis.
1 Greyhound 2 Laughing Fish 3 Brewers (Bravos/Droops) 4 Eight Bells 5 Handcross 6 Hurstpierpoint 7 United Services 8 White Horse 9 Brewers (Royals) 10 Watermill 11 St Francis 12 Clayton&Keymer 13 Plough
All the good scores reported so far this week came from two tables: The Laughing Fish witnessed a 40-year League record score of 19,630 by H, as well as good returns from teammate Jim Ashford (6330) and, for the opposition, 5190 from MrMike007 and 7300 from SuperG. The Bravos hang to their shirt-tails, 6790 from XPTG and 5050 from PM-R being enough to lift them into third place above Eight Bells who had an average week - one 4k and one 3k only. Exactly the same at the Hurst so no movement at all there. Nobody made a score of even 2k on the Royals table in the barn, so that one goes down a place.

Week 19 saw three commendations and three mild condemnations. The Laughing Fish gains top spot due to one of these, and, though a delayed reaction, it is perhaps fitting since a record score was made on it the week before.
1 Laughing Fish 2 Brewers (Bravos/Droops) 3 Greyhound 4 Eight Bells 5 Hurstpierpoint 6 Handcross 7 United Services 8 White Horse 9 Watermill 10 Brewers (Royals) 11 St Francis 12 Clayton&Keymer 13 Plough
Plusses - A F/W 5860 and 2 other 4k's on Brewers 'main' table; - S.King 7240, J.Lear 7240, D.Skinner 7650 on the Hurst; - John Staplehurst 6120 & Norman Cragg 5700 @ Watermill.
Minuses - Greyhound table "played notably badly" - H. - Handcross table "was difficult, having been moved"-tommo - Plough table "had right hand roll and very very slow" -BBW
Further movements pending dependant on match reports from USC and CKRBL yet to come. Note - there were none, so we'll take them as 'average'.

Week 20
1 Laughing Fish 2 Greyhound 3 Eight Bells 4 Brewers (Bravos/Droops) 5 Hurstpierpoint 6 Handcross 7 United Services 8 White Horse 9 Watermill 10 Brewers (Royals) 11 Clayton&Keymer 12 St Francis 13 Plough
Downwards movements where possible for Brewers, Watermill, Royals and St Francis with 90% of the scores being below 3k. The Greyhound with no game goes back up to second and the Eight Bells back to third on the back of a fine 10,590 from BB Warrior. Commendations but no movements possible for Laughing Fish (14,090 from Henry); Hurstpierpoint (17,940 from Nigel and 5k from captain Bob) nor Handcross (8350 from Super G).

I can't be responsible for what it does on Tuesday nights, Q ;D Okay, I know we were the last ones to play on it (last Wed) - but SuperG got 8350 on it.
From Senie's description of the problem (balls not coming back) its the same old, same old - back cushion which has hardened like concrete.
Perhaps that nice Mr Tarratt would like to swap it for one of those new slates, after the 1-day Interleague has finished. ;)

Week 21, and for the first time this season, at least one good score was made on each home table.....
1 Greyhound 2 Laughing Fish 3 Brewers (Bravos/Droops) 4 Eight Bells 5 Hurstpierpoint 6 United Services 7 Handcross 8 White Horse 9 Watermill 10 Clayton&Keymer 11 Brewers (Royals) 12 Plough 13 St Francis
The Greyhound table saw 6100 from Neil Burchell as well as a 9k aggregate game between Geoff Fairs and Bravo; Away player ManlyHarveys managed 6470 on the Droops' top; BBW plundered 9900 at the Hurst - and there were also 5ks from John Lear and Steve King; Sparky made a faultless 10250 on HHUSC, the top score of the week, and in the same match Tony Williams opened with a 5360 break, unfortunately not kept; Captain Norman led the way with 5820 on the Watermill; Dereck Taylor returned to form with 6120 at CKRBL; and Aitch ploughed a furrow to the tune of 5850 at Lower Beeding. Finally, an excellent 5900 from Uncle Max at the Hornless Unicorn. ;)

Week 22, and a surprising mixture of good and bad, any movements being in the top half of the table.
1 Greyhound 2 Brewers (Bravos/Droops) 3 Laughing Fish 4 Hurstpierpoint 5 Eight Bells 6 Handcross 7 United Services 8 White Horse 9 Watermill 10 Clayton&Keymer 11 Brewers (Royals) 12 Plough 13 St Francis
The Laughing Fish slips one place on the basis of H's own description of it as 'appalling' - a temporary blip I'm sure. The Brewers justifiably take second place on the back of Bravo's 8640. The Hurst table continues its resurfacing mission, BobHall and Steve King aggregating 11.5k in a thriller. They swap places with Eight Bells where - in conditions less than ideal - no score made 4k. Handcross gains a place thanks to SuperG's 6020.
It's the status quo for St Francis (and I don't mean Mr Rossi who this week lost his ponytail ;D) and for Watermill: 2 scores above 3k but 7 less than 2k at St Francis, and one game aggregating 7k but 6 scores of less than 2k at t'Mill represents an average performance.

Week 23, no sniff of a League table yet, but just enough to go on to update the tables ladder. Fine-tuning can be made if necessary once the Plough and Royals results come in. [postscript - no scores of any note were recorded in either match, so the positions stay the same.]
1 Brewers (Bravos/Droops) 2 Greyhound 3 Hurstpierpoint 4 Laughing Fish 5 Eight Bells 6 United Services 7 Handcross 8 Watermill 9 Clayton&Keymer 10 White Horse 11 Brewers (Royals) 12 Plough 13 St Francis
The Brewers has reached the top rung (who would have thought that this time last year ? :o) on the back of the top two scores of the week: 12,260 from the Reaper and 9510 from Sir Jock. Papa Hall with 5650 added to the list of performers. Hurst Club continues its resurgence and leapfrogs the Giggling Kipper, for which H (7090) has himself to blame. USC knocks the Handcross down a rung thanks to Warrior's 9220. Watermill continues its spate of high-scoring with 6340 from Kim Stenning and 5750 from Chris Nikolaj, whilst there were 5k's from SuperG, Pete Edwards and tommo at the CKRBL: both move above White Horse which ManlyHarveys described as an 'uphill struggle'.

Don't see why not. Cup rounds have been included so far. I know venues were reduced to only four for the Semi-Finals, but they have been shared about quite equally, so the normal situation applies.

Two upward movements and one downward for the SemiFinal rounds of Team Cup and Plate:
1 Greyhound 2 Brewers (Bravos/Droops) 3 Hurstpierpoint 4 Laughing Fish 5 United Services 6 Eight Bells 7 Handcross 8 Clayton&Keymer 9 Watermill 10 White Horse 11 Brewers (Royals) 12 Plough 13 St Francis
Greyhound claims back top spot, though KT might not be a fan after exactly the same thing happened to him as happened to tommo last October (6k banked and on the scoreboard and a BP out of nowhere). Seasoned performances there however from Reaper (6380), Papa Hall (8860) and Geoff Parsons (6950).
USC according to H (13860) is la creme de la creme, and we all know that cream rises toward the top. Trevor Rees also banged in 10020 at Sparky's lair .
A static situation for Hurstpierpoint, where three scores of 4k were made, but the stakes were high so you could say that this represents an average performance in the circumstances.
To be fair to all tables listed, CKRBL has to go down one due to Bravo's comment that it was a 'tricky' top. This may be reviewed if scores for that particular match materialise. [edited - goes up a place instead in acknowlegement of John Lear's 5360 and Steve King's 7800]

Agree it's a bad feature, Bob, but it's intrinsically a high-scoring table. We probably all have slightly different ideas of what is a good table and what is bad: I can't seem to get on at all with the Watermill table, for instance.
Another bad feature is the 'dead' cushions on the USC table, but we forgive that as it's such a fast cloth and the top is as straight as a die.
