No, there seemed more there I agree, the decision to segregate home fans from home fans was a joke IMO, but I've seen that before, there was plenty of space behind cowper st goal. Re queuing; regular fans got there early enough not to queue ;)

Well done to the Poppies!
The result for anyone who doesn't know what this thread is about was.............
Kettering Town 2, Notts County 1 (FA Cup 2nd Round Replay) 8-)
The success was predicted in yesterday's Sun.
Good luck to Kettering in the Third Round - and beyond ! 8-)

Absolutely Tommo, the mighty poppies march on 8-) I spoke to some people last night who watched it on the telly and they all said what a good game it was, it was a pretty good atmosphere there, although in the second half i was in front of the drummer :( who has returned to the ground after thinking his drum was banned a few seasons ago. ;D
Anyway quagmire, Grant was in there, I didn't see you with him. Maybe you were still outside ;D

How did the Poppies v Camb Utd go today, and are you in with a chance of the playoffs ?
Down south, AFC can win the Blue Square South and promotion to your league if we draw with Hampton & Richmond next Saturday:
1 AFC Wimbledon 40 25 9 6 82 35 +47 84 2 Hampton & Richmond 40 24 9 7 70 36 +34 81 3 Eastleigh 40 24 7 9 66 47 +19 79

No, we put pay to their play-off chances on Saturday, so you'll face us both next season as well as Luton, who were relegated today!

Talking of 'Gates' then - Luton's average home gate is 6500 and ours has been over 4000 for the last few matches. So there should be a couple of good paydays for the Northants faithful next year.
Controversy at our game at Bromley today which ended 2-2 :
Three minutes of added time was indicated and almost immediately Jay Conroy went down injured in the penalty area, and Jon Main kicked the ball out of play on the halfway line. Bromley threw the ball in to Hall, and the Dons players stood back as he launched the ball forward, attempting to return it to Wimbledon. To everyone’s amazement, the ball sailed over Pullen, landing in the net, and the referee had no option but to award the goal.
Bedlam ensued with the referee eventually asking Bromley’s management team if they would allow Wimbledon to walk the ball into the net, but they refused. After heated discussions, play resumed and the referee’s whistle soon went for full time.
Terry Brown was a very angry man, furious that Bromley had failed to follow the accepted convention of allowing the opposition to walk the ball into the net in such circumstances. So far as the game was concerned, he said, “I thought we played very well and dominated the first half. Bromley had the better of the second half, and the better chances, but when we scored with just a couple of minutes to go, that seemed like the end of the game. We now have to ensure we use what happened today, and at Eastleigh, to spur on and unite the players, and winning the Blue Square South will be even sweeter for what has happened.”
And so the Dons go into the final two games of the season, needing either a point at Hampton, or a victory against St Albans, to win the league.

They should have allowed you to have a goal back for that, only the right thing to do. Sure you'll be gutted if you don't win the league now because of this Tommo!!!

Well, fortunately for us the other results went our way: Hampton and Richmond could only draw, and Eastleigh lost to relegated Bognor Regis. So if we blow it now we have ourselves to blame.

Thanks BigStew and Quagmire. :D
Wimbledon drew at Hampton & Richmond today with a Jon Main goal three minutes from the final whistle.
It should be mathematically impossible now, barring any miracles, for the Dons not to win the league.
So it's the Conference (Blue Square Premier) for us next season ! 8-)

One of the most hated clubs in England, made a rod for non leagues back with their pay deals which basically screwed some small clubs. Lets face facts, a plastic club with plastic fans, the sooner they fade into obscurity the better.

Thanks for the welcome to Blue Square Prem.
I have nothing against Rushden and Diamonds as it was started off as a merger between two clubs (Diamonds comes from Irthlingborough, I believe?) - unlike the hated M/K Dons, where a new town were allowed to steal a club and its status away from a city 70 miles away.
Besides I have fond memories of attending the Northants Opens which were held at the Doc Martens Club House. ;)
There's a very good chance that margo and I might be coming up for Rushden and Kettering games. How about a 4-pin challenge in a Wellingborough pub to round the evening off ? ;D

I'd agree wit the no fans bit, but we do have history - Div 3 and Conference champions, but no respect for whom? I only recall Kettering fans hating us (which is'nt many either), and where are all your fans who went to the FA cup games? under 1000 against Crawley last week. Not sure if you'd want to see the back off us, no rivalry or derby matches to bring in the coffers! We all no you don't meen it really Ian!!! ;D ;) :-*

Should be a good gate again today with about 1,000 Wombles descending on Kettering.
Good luck to the Poppies, it may be as well you are playing us this early in the season, as we have more or less a brand new team and our players will require a bit of time to 'gel'. ;)

Yes, I suppose a slightly disappointing gate and too early in the season for Margo and I to plan a visit .
Not too long to wait for the return at New Malden, though - 17th October - when Kettering can expect a share of a 4,000 gate. ;)

Well the time has come round for the Wombles to entertain the Poppies - and entertain is what we hope to do ! ;D
Our star left-back Chris Hussey has just been snapped up by Coventry, so some regrouping is necessary and we could be slightly vulnerable in that position.
Other chink in our armour is that we seem to be a better away team than home (last results 0-1 home to Kidderminster and 5-3 away to Forest Green). So anything could happen.
Just extending a warm welcome to Kettering fans, hoping for a good match and that the Referee is 'firm but fair'. More than that I can't ask.

I did, it was a fantastic game ! We gave the Poppies a 2-goal start and then (and only then) started playing beautiful passing football. We pulled one back before half-time but your keeper denied us with three point-blank saves. Kettering were through on goal a couple of times but shot wide, so it could have been 4-all ! Kettering used a 4-2-4 setup and Ian Roper (built like a brick outhouse) was a rock in defence. They were good headers of the ball, ferocious in the tackle and combined well in counter-attack. Best and worst players both had religious names and wore red boots: Exodus Geohaghon (another 'large unit') was a constant threat, especially with his long throws, but Moses Ashikodi was a real whinger, constantly throwing tantrums when refused a free kick and was booed off the pitch when taking his time on being substituted for his own good after being booked. Apparently we were rather lucky in nicking the points in the reverse fixture, so I don't begrudge the Poppies their victory. Bring on Crawley next week in the FA Cup - on my doorstep ! 8-)
