Schooner continue their revival with a very good win at the Marquis of Granby B, eventually running out 4-1 victors.
Game one saw Rick Cunningham open up with 6380 break, then add another 2k before Paul Barnett got break back only to put white in front of left hand 50. 1020-9060 0-1.
Game two was tense throughout with Nick Brown and TJ not mastering the break throughout. Both played good shots to retrieve break but neither go to grips. As the bar dropped ( taking the red) Nick still needed over 300, he had the run of the balls for a fortuitous 100 and 50, taking the game to the last ball and whoever sank 100 wins. True to rest of game it took 4 gos each before Nick finished it off. 3170-3080 1-1.
Game Three. Steve Aylmore off at just over 1k, Tony Burgess battled to within 700 and then built a lead of just over 1k with close on 2k break. With time ticking away Steve got the balls back and built a good 2.5k break to win. 2690-4010 1-2.
Game Four saw Gary Ridley open with 2k, Terry Molloy levelled and the added another 4k to close out the game and match. 3190-6010 1-3.
Game Five. Avery much in form Bill Kerr opened with 7290, and then added another 3k to give Neil Higgins no chance. 110-10230 1-4.
So now three on the trot for Schooner, entertaining evening followed by hotdogs and chips. Nice to meet the landlord and lady, only to realise Danny and I go back to my dart playing days.

Stadium 3 – 2 Windmill
The first Worthing league match there since the Stadium re-opened, and all of the home team were most impressed with our new Turkish landlords, Matt & Amy.
Game 1 – Martin Smith v Alan Messer. Alan kicked off with 1500, Martin got the break back but pegged early. He got them back again, however, and this time posted 5840. This was not enough to secure the leg, but the balls became awkward and time ran out for Alan. Martin added another 3k or so at the end. 1-0
Game 2 – Grant Tully went off with 9160 v Micky Pope, subsequently adding a further 4k. I believe that this game may have broken the record for longest time elapsed between penultimate shot & last shot, previously held by Pete Brown at the Duke of Wellington. Just as the last ball was due to be potted, the table light went off, causing a significant delay of 20 mins or so, whilst bulb, fuse etc. were all changed to no avail. Eventually, play was able to continue with the help of a long extension lead from the next room… 2-0
Game 3 – Dave Ingram made a most impressive 8k opener v Ian Lelliott, giving the home skipper no chance. 2-1
Game 4 – Mark James v Charlie Cooper. Your reporter was sent on with the break in order to wrap up the match. On this occasion, however, I failed to perform to the required standard, pegging my 2nd split shot, and finishing with a total score of 820. Charlie Cooper’s early lead of 1500 lasted almost all game as both players chased the balls around, until it was he who got them back towards the end to make the game safe. 2-2
Game 5 –Tony Lewis v Gina Sherratt. Cometh the hour, and all that. Tony was magnificent, on his first visit following Gina’s 1k+ he made a superb 7k break, and returned to run out the remainder at his second visit. Nobody enjoyed watching it more than your correspondent, I can assure you! 3-2

Swan A 3 Three Horseshoes A 2
Not a good night for the Shoes, our second defeat at the Swan this season.
C.Scott 2,200 Kt 10,170 - I opened up with about 7k against Chris, including a 400 shot which whipped out of the fifty pocket :P 0 - 1
D.France 11,820 Stu 2,140 - Dave opened with about 4k and both players had a few chances, but Dave made sure later on. 1 - 1
J.Hayward 2,480 BB.Reaper 4,780 - Kev off early and both players had the balls back but neither could stay on for long. Kev managed to stay on near the end. 1 - 2
V.Blake 6,900 Bigjimsilverfox 990 - Vern made a couple of steady breaks. Jim chased balls all round the table but was unable to get them back (same as Chris Lawmans game a few weeks ago). 2 - 2
T.Denyer 8,340 Ricky 3,350 - Rick off on 1,900, Terry then made breaks of 4k & 3k to seal a good win for the Swan.

Duke of Wellington 4 Marquis A 1
A good night, with the ladies providing plenty of banter as always! Don't have exact scores but rough guesses:
Chris Tupper 10,500 vs Alan Brackenrige 5,500
Both had a couple of goes at the table each, with a solid 8k break from Chris making the difference.
H 10,200 vs Sheena Wood 500
I came off after 2.2k due to leaving the break short and fluffing my next shot. Sheena couldn't really get going. I think racked up a 5k break, and left the split short with a ball in the middle in front of the 100. After a bit of thought I rolled straight up to it and kept the break. I then got back on to get to my final score.
Pete Brown (can't remember sorry pete) vs Lorraine Hall 5,700
Lorraine opened with a solid 3kish break, Pete had a number of chances but couldn't get going, and Lorraine just kept adding to her lead to grasp the win!
Chris Reeves 7,500 vs 3000ish (i think) Jean Brackenrigde
Chris went off with about 8k but somehow pegged, I didn't actually see the shot. Jean got on but was off soon after to let Chris back in for a further 7k.
John Perrin 6000 vs 2500 Can't Remember (I really am sorry, not doing so well with this report)
Both players had a number of goes, with John making a solid 5k break in the middle of the game which got him the win!
Sorry about the vagueness of the report, am doing it totally from memory - i'm sure nige or Jean will fill in the blanks!

Another scalp for the Shoes B, beating second placed Swan B 3-2.
With the news that Hayley probably will not play for us again we are left with the bare five.
Dave Millard on first against seasoned pro Brian Richards. Brian off cheaply 300 I think. Dave managed to break down leaving the one-up short twice 2510-4790. (Dave then told us that was his last game for us).
Chris Lucas v Barry Holt. What an inspiring game from Chris. 2 5.5k breaks and a safety shot leaving both balls positioned against 2 white pegs on the second break. How he managed it I still don't know. Left Barry no time whatesoever. 12390-560.
Game 3. Barry Squires v Roger Taylor. Roger owed Barry one after Barry beat Roger in the Nobby Clark. Roger's break building was second to none. 660-9920.
Which left Adam and myself to take both games to win the match.
Game 4. Adam with the break managed to get to 5.6k and took a peg. Doug had 1 shot. Adam then retrieved both balls and had a 4k break. leaving Doug one more shot. 4220-0. Doug then spent the rest of the evening telling everyone that he only had 2 shots all game.
Game 5. Myself v Matt Squire. Matt started very slowly building a 3k break in approx 6 minutes. I got the break back and came off after 1k. Matt struggled at the top I managed to get the break back and played until the bar dropped for 3.5k to win 4690-3570.
Dave has agreed he was a bit hasty and will play the rest of the season.
A great team effort. Well done lads.

Good news that Dave is going to see the season out, and what a great game from Chris in his first full season back.
