Laughing Fish 2 - 3 St Francis
Jim Ashford 3020 vs 8010 Shaun Morris
Shaun opened with 4.6k, and shortly followed with another 3k. Jim Knocked in 3x1k breaks as a good consolation but never looked like catching.
Les Whiteman W/O vs Neil Henry
One player down they had left a message on Neil's voicemail but he didn't show!
H 11170 vs 1320 Ray Fogwill
After a couple of attempts I got the break back and knocked in 4.5k. It took me another couple of goes to get it back again and I played the table out for another 5.5k.
Andy Brooks 3560 vs Matt Geal 4420
Andy pegged his opener due to an overhit-whip-peg situation. He then got it back, but put the break down 4 times, now pegging about 1.5k in total. Matt hit 2.5k. Andy got 2k back, and then a further 1k, but Matt managed a final 1.5k to take the win. If only points had been kept it could've been a totally different kettle of fish!
Ray Carpenter 1870 vs 2340 Chris Little
Chris was off after 700. Both players mucked about a bit before Ray got a 700 break. Then the rest of the game prooved very scrappy, Ray making a late effort to catch Chris but to no avail!
Firstly, I must congratulate Shaun - he is the first away player I have seen take to the table so naturally and deserves congratulations for how well he played giving Jim no chance. St Francis prooved a very nice bunch of once again new faces and we look forward to the return!

Handcross Z 5, Watermill B 0
Scoreline does not really do justice to our brave opponents, as it could have been so, so different.
Graham Daniels 2560, Paul Blackburn 2530 Paul made all of the early running, with Graham struggling to make an impression. But then Graham just refused to be beaten and came back with 1k as the bar was due, and potted the 100 at the first attempt.
tommo 3390, Tony Williams 520 I was being caught up gradually, thanks to Tony's patient break building - and me not being able to cash in with more than 700 each time after getting the break back three times. Then Tony had an unlucky BP which effectively handed me the game.
MrMike007 7690, Gavin Boyd 920 007 playing something near to how he used to play - before he lost his confidence at the start of this season.
Johnny Haigh 2290, Martin Range 2120 Nip and tuck this one, with the lead constantly changing hands. Just when we thought that the Flying Dutchman had edged it, Johnny came back at the end, missed the chance to clinch it with one down the 10 and one down the 20, but then potted the last 100 for the Zeds' second last-ball win of the evening.
Barry Timson 6020, Sabina Williams 610 Barry on for what seemed like an eternity before letting Sabina have her second go. But, like Mick, whatever he tried seemed to come off.
So, our fourth 5-0 on the bounce, but we're not banking on the same next week, when we face an in-form St Francis. ;)

Greyhound 5 Royal Oak 0
Paul Goodwin 3420 Jan Hinkins 520 Trevor Rees 7920 Anne Stockinger 350 Geoff Fairs 2770 Val Gritton 620 Neil Burchell 3500 Russel Jenkins 1460 Peter Burchell 4170 Lyn Storr 2000
A good result for the Greyhound
Jan would have been very close if she had not hit the break four times twice losing about 2.5k. Russel hit a nice 1k in the middle of his game but could not get the balls back for another try. Lyn played a very steady game but Peter is very hard to beat this season
Looking forward to our charity match against the Royal Oak next thursday we will be hard pushed to win that match.

It would seem that the "Hurst Social Club" thread has now been locked...... ??? ::) Perhaps whoever locked the other thread could transfer this post to there as well? Thank you, in anticipation. Added to your 9:52am post on that thread as requested. We are keeping this particular one for match reports from last night.

Many thanks to The Fish for a cracking evening, and H for his kind words. I appeared to have posted last night. I have no idea why, and not a clue what I was talking about. TSO

The Plough 4 - 1 USC
Geoff Parsons 1440 - 910 Andy Short
Mark Webber 2620 - 2590 Ron Wales
Mark Potter 1620 - 1670 Mick Kirwan
Des Gasson 2740 - 1580 Graham Sparksman
Keith Potter 1940 - 1700 Chris Packham
All of the games could have gone either way with 3 being decided on the last ball, although scores reflect badly on the table (well the heat from the fire anyway) it didn't have any particularly bad points to really justify such low scores from some of those present.
It would have been good to see our new signing Terry Gasson playing against his brother but he wouldn't allow us to drop any existing player, full marks for sportsmanship I think.

Thanks XPTG cracking night congrats on a very well compiled 6K break & yet another 10K almost 11K Steve could have left you a couple of balls to pot when the bar had dropped ;D ;D Table played well I'm still cursing my last shot where the cue ball drifted on to the peg losing my final break which would have won me the leg. DON'T draw me first again. :D ;D

The score for the Watermill A v Whitehorse Was 4-1 to the watermill have not got the scores to hand except that the watermill losing player was Kim Stenning. Indeed, here is what the Old Fella has to report on that match: Watermill A 4, White Horse 1If The A Team were in the Premier, they’d be on top of that division as well. Another very competent home performance puts them 16 points clear at the top of div’n 1. Big Norm and John Willis took the first 2 legs for the home side, Brian Coleman then got what was to be White Horse’s only point by winning the third. Two big hits for the home side, 6450 for Chris Nikolaj and 5240 for John Staplehurst, wrapped up the match in fine style.

C & K RBL 4 Brewers Droops 1 Report from Jock later ......and in absence of said report from north of the border, here is the full SP, courtesy of the Old Fella: CKRBL 4, Brewers Droops 1Kleiners move off the bottom and dump their opponents there after a good home display against Droops. A good 6240 form Pete Edwards started Kleiners on their way, but they stalled on the next frame which went to Sir Jock. 6410 for Derek Taylor put Kleiners back in front and wins for Dilly and Ted Stringer in the last 2 did the home side very well.

With regard to this weeks report : 2 errors
Les Whiteman had the walkover in the Fish's match against Saints - the players' list is correct. The Sportsman have won 7 league matches not 9
OOps = please accept my apologies.
