While the Chantry/Plough & Harrow (Bridge) B stranglehold in the Winter League was finally broken this season after 6 years, another formidable team was finally defeated. In the Market Inn, Sandwich, Derek Latham & Sharon Green defeated Mike & Lin Callanan 2-0. Mike & Lin have won the last 5 Mixed Doubles titles, and appeared in 9 of the last 10 finals, and for the last 4 years 3 different partnerships representing Sandwich pubs have travelled Deal for finals night only to walk away with the runners-up shield.
Derek & Sharon took the first leg with 7k+, as Derek hit a late 4k break to tie it up, and the second leg saw Derek open with a 6,500 break, but Mike was unable to respond.
A Market Inn player will now definitely be in the final, as Derek Latham & Sharon Green join Craig Carlson & Karen Keen (Market Inn/P&H Tilmanstone), Dave Carliell & Ann Keen (Market Inn/P&H Tilmanstone) and Warren Cowdrey & Dawn Williams (Brickies/Magnet) in the semis.

Open Singles, 2nd Round Neville Potts beat Stuart Richardson 2-0 Neville misses the opening break shot in game one, but wins the leg by only 220 with 4,700 after the bar dropped with Stuart chasing a deficit of 1,800. The second leg Stuart opened with 1,200 but Neville wins it with a couple of steady breaks and a total of 7,400.
Division One Singles, 2nd Round John Addley beat Alan Smith 2-1 Despite losing his opening break of 6,100 when he missed a ball next to the 100 hole, John hit back with a late break of 3k to win the first leg. Alan played the table well and steadily to post a 6,040 opening score in game two, and despite John's late burst of 5,300 unfinished break Alan won it with an overall score of 7,600. The decider, John won the toss and posted 9,060 in a little over 10 minutes, leaving Alan to better that in less time, but after 2,450 Alan's break ended and John goes through to the semi-final.
