First leg Watney Mann Albion v Schooner
New team member Bob Hall with the break against Dave Anscombe. Both struggled with the pace of the table, but Bob building slightly better than Dave nicked it. 2630-2220 1-0.
Dave Jones with break agaist Kev Stoner. Dave started well only to peg 3k, Kev like those in the first struggled with pace of table. Dave built another 4k break to make sure. 1970-5570 1-1.
Rick C against Jean B saw Mr C really struggle to get to grips with table, Jean after a couple of efforts settled in to play a solid game. 4050-2700 2-1.
Bella S on the break and from the outset her luck was all bad. TJ took advantage to build a 2k lead then put in another 4k. At last Bella`s luck changed and she ran the time out. 1590-6690. 2-2
Bill Kerr break against Alan B. Bill settled straight in and opened with 5k, Alan did not get them back and Bill added another 4k. 0-9300 2-3
Well poised for the return next Monday, another entertaining evening with the Albion wrapped up when we were served a very nice cottage pie.

Albion 3 Schooner 2
Dave A 1970 Rob 2610 (a double for bobble)
Ric 3240 Sandra (rubbish) 1010
Bill 4670 Alan 4870 (great comeback from Bill just not enough time left)
Steve 6080 Bella 1090
Tony 70 Super Jean 8940
so after last weeks 3 2 to the Schooner Jean & Bill to play the decider. Bill on first with 4k + then Jean replied with 2k + bit of toing and froing ball up the centre Bill clipped the black and down it went (wasnt the only thing either :-X)
Final score Bill 600 Jean 2850
Albion through to the next round 6 5 :D
Plenty of banter & laughs with the Schooner
Nice food think they were trying to fatten us up (some needing it more than others ;) :D ;)

Yes a very good night despite TJ being on the quiet side (really). Well played to the Albion and good luck in the next round. Tight affair as one would expect, and deserved win. Gina had gone a bit over the top but what an excellent spread, and a bloody good effort to clear it all. Visited the chair in hospital today and due home later this evening coming off with only one or two bruises.
See the Albion again Wednesday for start of Brighton Summer.

The Dyke has won this match as my captain Doug Mahy has been in touch with some dates to play them. Unfortunately I do not know the final score or individual scores.

Hurst Club 2 Windmill 3
Chris Kirkham 2,280* - 3,610 Dave Ingram Darrell Skinner 6,850 - 800* Gina Sherratt Steve King 4,010 - 1,580* Mick Pope John Lear 2,450* - 5,660 Alan Messer Ian Giffen 2,090 - 5,250* Charlie Cooper
Everybody seemed to struggle a bit with the table to start with meaning that the first 4 games were all won against the break, with Charlie proving the exception in winning the last game to leave it nicely balanced for the second leg..... 8-)
A lovely Marion buffet to finish an enjoyable evening with the Hurst team..... we look forward to the return match on Tuesday 30th June. ;D

First leg between the Marquis B & Three Horseshoes was played last night at the Marquis. The table played very tricky as it had been moved several times due to decorating. Good to see Neil back playing as well.
Neil Higgins 2,780 v 0 Mr Reaper (BP going for last ball, couldn`t win though). Nick Brown 1,520 v 2,740 Lolly - Both players struggled with the break, Chris just proved the stronger. Tony Burgess 1,530 v 5,880 Sir Kt - Felt like 25k not 5. Gary Ridley 3,120 v 5,240 Ian - Best contest of the match with Gary in charge for most, then Ian made a gritty 4k to take the leg. Barney 200 v 3timeschamp 13,660 - Ok , so i`m a liar. The table was easy, well that`s what Jim made it look like. Opening with 10k and then adding another 3 for good measure. Brilliant play by Jim, it was bloody hard :-X
Return next thursday at the Shoes.

Could somebody confirm the Rule in this competition regarding order of breaks in a decider...... is it done on a toss of a coin, or did I see something saying that the Away Team should have first break? ???

Rules are away player take first break, then equal breaks, equal time in the decider

Rules are away player take first break, then equal breaks, equal time in the decider Thanks for clarifying that Nigel.... glad to say that we didn't have to out it to the test tonight though! 8-) Windmill 3 Hurst Club 2 Edge Butler 3,910* - 1,220 Graham Sparksman Alan Messer 800 - 2,560* Darrell Skinner Dave Ingram 9,110 - 180* Ian Giffen Charlie Cooper 7,440* - 170 Chris Kirkham Gina Sherratt BP - 5,270* Steve King Overall result - Windmill 6 Hurst Club 4 ;D Another enjoyable evening with the Hurst team, finished off with a nice selection of sarnies and a friendly doubles in which everybody ended up playing with Gina's crutches..... :o :o :-X Ian G scored 630 with his last 2 shots then tried to persuade Gina to swap her crutches for his cue..... an offer she politely declined! ;D ;D

Everybody seemed to struggle with the table with the exception of BBW & Charlie !!.
Not quite sure how to read it could be a bit confusing when you said that we were playing with Gina's crutches we would not be that cruel. ;D
Of course we know that you meant that we all followed Mal's lead in swapping the cue for one of Gina's crutches, something I haven't done before but will remember for quite some time to come especially the red in the 200.
Thanks to the Windmill team & good luck in the next round.

First leg played last night, Swan B 4 Dyke B 1, maybe a bit flattering to the Swan, but we will take it!!!
Mat 5110 Terry M 4620 A bit scrappy early on but Mat scores a 4k break, Terry gets the break back 4.5k down with 5 mins to go. Gets up to 4k and making it look easy, catches a split a bit thick and is off. Mat plays it out.
Doug 680 Terry R 8670 Terry kicks of with a solid 7.5k in 12 mins
Roger 9360 Micky H 3100 Micky off early, Roger gets break back and knocks in 8k.
Brian 8880 Chris T 3080 Brian knocks in 8k off his break
Barry 6180 Terry C 5070 Terry off early, Barry pegs 3k but then gets break back again to clinch the game.
Looking forward to the return match next Wednesday.

Second leg of the match between Dyke B and Swan B, Swan 4-1 up. Played at the Dyke 8th July
Doug D 4440 v Doug M 3100 Very scrappy game with a several goes at the break each. Doug D getting the break back with 2 mins to go and scoring enough to win. Table very, very tricky at the top.
Terry R 2120 v Mat S 2160 What can only be described as a very nervy game (at best). Terry not getting any luck until right at the end when he got the break back, but thought he was too far behind to win and played the break out to lose by 40, potting the last two balls down the 50's off the break.
Terry M 0 v Brian R 6660 Brian going well off the break with over 3k, but decides to throw in one of his mystery shots and ploughs the cue ball straight through the left hand peg when going for a ball hanging over the left hand fifty. Every time Brian went to the table he got the break back and scored another 2k plus a 4k. Terry bp'd towards the end.
Chris T 4390 v Barry H 5250 Chris off early and Barry gets break back, but loses 3k. Chris gets break back again and scores another 2k and then Barry comes back with 4k to seal a win.
Terry C 7600 v Roger T 720 Roger going well with a 5k break before leaving a split behind the 100, coming off the cushion and missing. Terry gets break back and knocks up a 7k break.
Thanks to the Dyke for the evening, great sandwiches and a pretty tense game.
