One day I'll be lucky and a table will be put back in either the Gate or the Mill House in Ifield, and I'll be able to see my days out there. 8-) It was never the best-kept of secrets, but the Zeds have formally applied to the Mid Sussex League for a change of venue to the Mill House in Ifield. And tonight was the momentous occasion of the first attempt at staging a match under League conditions, as the Limes 'A' of Merstham came to play us in a friendly. Six games were played, with reasonable scores throughout: We like to think that both sides enjoyed a good evening and that all teams in Mid Sussex will now be able to experience similar. The table is the one which was bought from Sav, and has a nice fast cloth and bouncy cushions. Here is is in all its glory: barbilliards.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=membersdiscussion&action=display&thread=5521Next week we will be entertaining the Bravos, so it will be good to hear what a Mid Sussex team make of it. 8-)

Next week we will be entertaining the Bravos, so it will be good to hear what a Mid Sussex team make of it. 8-) Our second friendly at the new venue was staged tonight along Charity League lines this time, and the Bravos helped to make it a really fun evening (with plenty of bawdy jokes etc). The table performed reasonably well, Bravo himself running up the highest score of 4740. Some tasty food was laid on as well to cap an excellent night.

Hurst 'B' were the latest team to visit the Mill House last night for a bar billiards friendly, and a good match was enjoyed in a cordial atmosphere.
The new table continues to perform well, if a little slow, and Steve King (5070) top-scored for the visitors and Graham Daniels (6790) for the homesters.
Margo clinched a good decider with a fine 3190. 8-)

A very enjoyable evening for the USC Lewes Team at the Zeds new home...... great venue, some very nice food and excellent company. 8-) ;D
Tommo did a brilliant job setting up the table for the match, which played superbly leading to some good scores for players on both teams. ;)
Zeds won the singles 3-2 thanks to victories for Graham Daniels (7,800), Barry Timson (4,330) and Mick Holmwood (6,240) with H (8,180 in a good battle with Tommo who hit 4,480 in the highest scoring match of the evening) and myself winning for the visitors. ;)
Colleen & I managed to beat Alan & Margo in a close doubles to leave it all square on the night.
Many thanks to the Zeds and the staff at the Mill House for such a good evening. ;D

Another fine evening at the Mill House tonight, when Lewes Champions USC (formerly the Sportsman) visited us for a friendly match.
To counteract the effects of the bad weather the table received its first ironing before the match, and it behaved superbly with Graham Daniels and Mick Holmwood scoring 7k and 6k for the Zeds, and Henry Brooks 8k and Dave Ingram 9k for the visitors.
Honours finished even with the Doubles leg going to the USC thanks largely to a couple of good breaks from Colleen Park.
Thanks to our illustrious opponents for their good company and hope they journeyed home safely. Happy anniversary also to Henry's mum and dad who had a celebrationary meal in the restaurant.

Well the anniversary is on Friday and they are going out properly, so to speak, not that my dad knows that yet.
Thanks to the Zeds, and fine new venue with a nice BB area. They do good food, and supplied a substantial amount of chips and sarnies. My only criticism, and you have to say it, is the lack of draught real ale, but they do have some pretty good bottles ales to make up for it.
Great job with the table, was lovely to play on and will see some very high scores in the coming season I am sure!

Many thanks to the Hurst 'A' for providing cordial opposition for the fifth friendly to be held at the Mill House tonight.
A great evening, plenty of banter, much beer consumed, and no-one taking themselves too seriously. And a seven-a-side match, very pleasing for the venue.
Pick of the away performers tonight were Lady H (3580) and Chunky Monkey's Other Half (5480).
The real thing starts next Wednesday, and we wish all teams in the Mid Sussex League an enjoyable season. 8-)

Since the visit of the USC, a log has been kept of the House Record on our magnificent acquisition from Sav. ;D
It continues to go from strength to strength as you will see..........

Great to see some big scores going in at your new home Clive, the table there was certainly very good the night that we played you. 8-)
I'm sure that Jim's score will be beaten at some time this season..... ;)

I am looking forward to having a crack at that table in a "non-friendly" match, if you know what I mean ;)

Okay, Henry, I sense that you have a yearning to appear on our 'Hall of Fame'.
So I have expanded the list to show the other two good scores on your visit. ;)

Okay, Henry, I sense that you have a yearning to appear on our 'Hall of Fame'. /quote] I suspect that both H & I would like to appear above Jim on your "Hall of Fame" Tommo........ I will just have to hope that I have a free night from Brighton League at the end of March 2010!! ;D

This is developing into a bit of a "Silver Fox-hunt" ;D
But for the time being, BigJim stays ahead of the pack. ;)
Edit 20/12/13: Continued on the Horsham board........score beaten first by Ricky Dewdney, then by Gareth Lloyd.
