Gardeners `B` 1 Three Horseshoes `A` 4
The Shoes bounced back well after Tuesdays defeat by the Swan. A great team performance on a tricky top. The D is the main problem, the ball won`t sit on the spot, so you have to play it wherever it settles. Very off-putting when it keeps moving.
Neil Higgins 2120 Kt 10370 - I managed to stay on the table after venturing up the top a few times and touched on at 10k. 0 - 1
Nick Brown 80 Paul Reece 11680 - Paul`s best game of the season. After Nick broke down on his opener. Paul made a 5k break and added another 5k later on. 0 - 2
Barney 5740 Mal 3240 - A couple of breaks each, Barney was struggling with the break & one-up, Mal with the D. Barney prevailed in the end. 1 - 2
Gary Ridley 2860 BB Reaper 5830 - Gary seemed to be having trouble with the D also and couldn`t get going. Kev made a couple of breaks to seal the win. 1 - 3
Tony Burgess 390 Rick 1030 - High scoring affair this one. Rick opens with 500. He gets them back again and makes 5k only to take a peg out. Neither player managed to hold much more score and Rick won the point 1 - 4
Great company and excellent food :)
Shock of the night :o
Duke of Wellington 1 Gardeners `A` 4
Don`t know the Stadiums result at the Schooner yet, but it will all be on the last week again with the Shoes at home to the Stadium `B` & the Stadium `A` entertaining the Duke of Wellie. Exciting stuff :P

Yes you understand right Pete, bad news travels fast.....
I promised Jean a full report. And (her words not mine) the girls were "awesome"
Duke of Wellington 1-4 Gardeners A
These are the scores
N.Senior 330 - 7,980* J.Brackenridge P.Brown 4,270*- 5,450 S.Race C.Reeves 3,750 - 7,400* S.Wood J.Perrin ZERO, NIL, BP, NAUGHT, 0, NOTHING, ZILCH* - 1,300 C.Richards c.Tupper 9,570 - 2,790 L.Hall
Game 1 - Jean scores 2k and adds another 1,500 before Nigel gets the break back. Faultless till 4,500, Nige leaves split short to leave white ball up over the 100. He very very unluckily misses off the side cushion to lose break. Jean is ruthless by adding another 3k to finish.
Game 2 - Pete makes lovely 3k opener. Sandra hits back with 1,500. Pete looks to put the game to bed when he gets the break back but only makes 1k. Sandra copies Jean's mean ruthless streak with a 4k winning break. And to top it all she has a little jig at the end 0-2.
Game 3 - Reeveseys opponent, his nemesis, Sheena Wood steps up and goes off with 1,500. Chris slots in a 3k break and is very very unlucky to come off on the split. Sheena decides to go banzai, with a 6k winning break - whats she been drinking tonight??? 3-0 to the girls. And then (to rub it in) Sheena also does a little jig to celebrate her victory.
Game 4 - It gets worse, regg3y does a regg3y. 8 or 9k up, he decides to have a black peg with a minute to go. Chris steps in for the win and a 4-0 lead. No jigs this time just astonished faces from the boys and fits of laughter from the girls
Game 5 - All I can say is five girls won tonight cos Tupps won the last game against Lorraine. A nice 9k score from her. Final score 1-4
The title charge form the Duke ended by a terrific performance from the girls, who were exceptional, well done to them, Horseshoes apart the best anyone has played against us all season at the Duke. We go to the stadium for the last match next week, now just trying to upset their title bid (assuming they won tonight).

Windmill 2 Stadium A 3
A very good win for the Stadium who certainly played the table well. The Schooner is going to be a great venue and the table looks as though once it has settled it will be a fair challenge to all. Excellent company, once again mine host laid on stew and dumplings, Hot Dogs and chips. The atmosphere is so much better than the Windmill, excellent tunes on the juke box ( criticise Frank Zappa as much as you like, still be played) convenial host, and bar seems to stay open as long as you are drinking.
Terry Molloy 1160 8430 Ian Lelliott Bill Kerr 5630 730 Tony Lewis Arthur Brewster 470 7320 Grant Tulley Steve Aylmore 4440 1940 Martin Smith Rick Cunningham 2330 6740 Geoff Dukes
Stadium take the spoils deservedly, with Geoff playing a faultless decider, with the other results Stadium put themselves in the driving seat.

As promised the full version of last nights events Game 1 We was robbed!!! Barry Holt 9580-8820 Dave France Dave off after 3k,Barry only managed about 1k on his first serious break,Dave built up a lead of 6k.Barry got the break back and going well got his nose in front.Leaving a ball on the edge of the 100 hole Barry missed it on the way up but it just had enough pace and side to just kiss it on the way back therefore keeping the break, not enough time for Dave to come back 1-0 I very nearly went outside to see if Barry had stepped in something on the way in Game 2 Brian Richards 1240-6350 Pete M ;D In the end I didn't need any of Barry's luck.Brian Pegged his opener,I got the break back only to miss the straight pot to the left hand 50.A bit of interplay left me around 500 up until I got a break of 5k and touched just as the bar went 1-1 Game 3 Roger Taylor 4310-5780 Terry Denyer Terry off cheaply,Roger going well but seemed to have a little trouble with the split.Terry got the break back and played out the table 1-2 Game 4 Matt Squire 7310-790 Vern Blake Good steady break from Matt virtually killed off the game at the first attempt.Vern did get the break but unable to anything 2-2 Game 5 Doug Mahy 7740-1630 Chris Scott Chris off earl again,Doug played a good steady game to kill it off 3-2 Good evening with lots of banter and a good range of sandwiches Yet again we managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory :'(

Stadium 4 - Dolphin - 1
A good evening at the Stadium. table playing well and most of the players appreciating it. In game 1 Edge continued his good form of late by taking a game against the break.
Alan and then Charlie both scored lots in games 2 and 3 (Charlie only kept a fraction of what he score though) This put the home side 3 up. Colin Green did well to pull one back gainst Gina. Finally Mick made it 4-1 with a steady game against Roy.
Shame to listen to stories about the Dolphin breaking up next year, lets hope they find another player or 2 to keep the side going as if they do break up it will affect both Worthing and Brighton.

SHOCK :o :o :o What shock was that then!!!! ;D ;D
Was confused from the start when Nigel put himself on. Knew it was a really tough game but it was also our break so after not knowing who to put on eventually put my name down. Nearly 4000 up when Nige got the break back and didnt look like missing and got to 5000 before leaving the split short and missing. I got the break back and made sure of the game.
Our thoughts were we have managed to take a game off the Duke.
2nd game Sandra against Pete. Pete looked comfortable for the win when Sandra managed to get the break back and get 1000 in front. With 5 mins to go Sandra got the break back and got 4k without looking like missing. The jig was relief not only to win but the way in which she won and also getting her highest score of the season which was 6450 not 5450
Now we were starting to think Whats Going On!!
3rd game Sheena against Chris. Sheena was disappointed to come off early and when Chris got the break back we were expecting the worse. When he came off on 3500 Sheena played the table out with 6k and again never looked like missing. Again the jig was not just winning the game but the way in which she played.
4th game Chris against reggy. Now we know why the black peg has got Reg on it. Sorry about the fits of laughter i think it was the disbelief of what was happening and the looks on the faces of the Duke boy and what topped it off was the landlord putting things can only get better on the jukebox. Well done Chris in registering your first league win of the season.
5th game. Not going to say much except good job Tupps was an honorable lady for the night!!
I think the awesome came from Reevesey when he said that he and Nige only had one chance to win their games and we were just awesome.
Weve had so many close games this year with nothing really going our way it was great to show what we can do and hopefully this win has secured our place in Div 1 next year.
Well done team and thanks to the Duke for a great evening.

What a fanstastic result - bad for the Duke of course who still had a hope of the league title.
The writeups from both angles - winners and losers - make interesting comparisons. The little victory jigs - I can just picture them.
It is as important to be as gracious in victory as in defeat, and all parties have managed that.
A classic evening from the sound of it, one that will be written in Gardeners' folklore and be remembered for many years to come.
Good on you, girls (including Tupper! ;D)

Great win girls. Well played. :) :)
Looks like we are definitely relegated unless you lose 5-0 next week and we can somehow beat the Windmill (Schooner) 12-0 ::)
As to the talk of there being no team at the Dolphin next year its early days and I certainly have not heard anything, and I play ( ::)??) for them. But the team will probably stay together with some additions.
