This may be a little late Ian, but the fixture cannot be 'reversed'. Hurst B are the home side wherever the match is played and the Plough will have all the breaks. I'm surprised you haven't chosen a neutral table to play the match on. I made this quite clear to Darren.

it's a shame that it wasn't made clear to me then !!!!. As our venue is the one that is not available due to the Hurst Festival Jenny informed me that you had said that we can either change the date or play at the Plough. ??? ???
I have spoken to Darren & he said that you were adamant that they should be the away team as it's not their fault.
Something that I & my team fully accept so we are prepared to play at the plough & give them all the breaks on their table & have the handicap all fine with us so can you tell me why the fixture can't be reversed !!
How can I as a team captain choose a neutral venue ?? if we cant play at the Plough then can you please tell me what you would like us to do to ensure this first match is played on time. Thanks. Ian.

Neutral Table. Does that mean any table from pool 1 which would give a choice of 1 table as 2 & 4 are byes or a free table from pool 2.
This is down to the fixtures secretary & i am waiting for him to decide or we will have to postpone the match.
I dont think that we should have a drawn out series of other poeples views but wait for Roy's answer.

I'm surprised you haven't chosen a neutral table to play the match on. I made this quite clear to Darren. I cannot recall any rule that says that the venue for a Charity Cup match cannot be reversed...... ??? ....... however, I would imagine that the reason for Roy's decision is that the Plough already have 5 Home and only 3 Away Fixtures, so to switch another game to their home table (where they would have to give away the breaks) would be unfair on them. :'( But, equally, it is not the fault of Hurst B that their venue is not available on the night..... ::) I can think of 3 other possible solutions to this..... 1) Ask the Plough if they would like to play the match at their venue as a HOME match for them.... and make it clear that they would have to concede the breaks! ;) 2) Play the match at a neutral venue. 3) Re-arrange the match for another night at Hurst Club. Either one of those would be fairer (to both teams) than the current position. :)

Why not - purely as a one-off - stage it at Handcross ?
It's your former venue, and I think the table is still in there.

captain thunderpants has just left me in the bog without no paper so to speak ! ;D and just informed me he will be unavailable for tomorrow night, has said he will try to get all the handicap details to the club before tomorrow evening but common sense makes me think if any of the droops read this before then can they please try and bring all the neccessary paper work (excuse the pun ! :o) just in case ! :P in true st francis style i dont think anyone has visited the club since last season (practice is cheating ! ;)) so i will make an attempt to get there early to check the table is stilll there ! if not we can still have a few beers and rip the p*** out of Sean ! 8-) If any fellow st francis team mates read this (which i doubt :D) this is a superb opportunity of sorting a squad rotation system amongst ourselves without Sean ! ;D
Sean (i know youll read this) don't forget too flush ! lol ! :-*

Well then, lets kick off procedings for the season. BREWERS BRAVOS:2 HURST A:3
Bravo:(380) 11,180 Bobhall:(380)1840 The skips were up first and Bob opened up 1k+ to begin with. After some jockeying for position Bravo got them back and unleashed an 8.5k break to set his store for the season (hopefully). A further 2.5k from Bravo capped an excellent performance to give us the lead.
Paul:(1140) 2200 Roy Wells:(760)5570 Roy opened up with 2.5k to set Paul a stiff challenge, one that Paul couldn't manage as, try as he might, he could not get back on break. Roy saw it off to bring it equal.
Lynne+Nikki(1520)2910 Hayley+Jenny(760)3430 A good close game in the first doubles that was equal as the bar went down. Jenny played it out calmly to give the Brewers ladies no chance on the last ball.
Bravo+Spud(380)2720 Bobhall+Petehall(380)5070 Bob opened up with an excellent 3.5k and sadly it was only me rather than Bravo who managed to get on break to play catch up. Despite our best efforts, we ended up well adrift.
Spud(1140)4210 Jenny(1140)3810 Paul reckoned that this would be a good match-up and so it proved. A mid-game1.6k break by myself was quickly matched by Jennie. We both had goes on the break later on to try and finish each other off but fluffed our lines. The red down after the bar had gone was the decider in this one.
It was a nice opener to the season and wish the Hurst A the best in the Prem this season. Hopefully we will meet them in the Cup.

Plough LB 2 - 3 HH USC
Des Gasson (1210) 2640 v Terry Gasson (610) 610 Des couldn't resist selecting himself against his brother (I would have done the same ;D) and there wasn't much in it for most of the game but Terry went for the 200 on the last ball :'( even though he couldn't win.
Mark Potter (910) 910 v Bill Boyce (2120) 3430 Bill was playing some good shots and Mark just couldn't get to grips with the table and followed Terry's example with the last ball - Black peg :P.
Malc Fuller/Mark Potter (300) 300 v Terry Gasson/Mick Kirwan (610) 2970 Terry used his knowledge of the table to good effect and built a good lead that Malc/Mark couldn't catch and they followed the Kamakazi last ball example of previous games :-/ .
Mark Webber/Keith Potter (300) 1640 v Bill Boyce/Ron Wales (1520) 2600 Bill had an early miss on the break but Mark/Keith couldn't get going while Bill/Ron kept chipping away to keep their lead. No heroics on the last ball this time ;D
Keith Potter (300) 3950 v Sparky (0) 1250 One ball down first break then missed with both when I got the break back (very similar shot to one I'd seen earlier and still don't know why ???) however Keith played the table superbly with a couple of very well constructed breaks on this unforgiving table and thoroughly deserved his win :). Never did get another chance to 'find' the break :(
A good evening thanks to the 'PloughBods', with good grub as usual courtesy of Mark Webber :D

Hurst B 1 Plough PG 4
Darren used the handicaps to good use & it was nice to be the first team to do battle with the newbies.
Steve King ( 0 ) 2230 Howard Gould (2690) 3210 Howard played deliberately but slowly & Steve battled but never retrieved the break.
Marion Skinner (2250) 2350 Ron Sheridan (3140) 5550 Marion struggled to make up the difference & Ron got used to the table
Darrell Skinner Iang (0) 1720 Darren & Chase Newnham (900)7760 Darren kicked off with a good 3700 break & then added to it
Chris Kirkham Steve King (0) 1730 Ian Turner Ron Sheridan 1800 I did not see much of this game. Iang (900) Chase Newnham (900) 2330 Chase pegged his opening break .
I got the break back for around 2K then lost a further 1K
not the best of starts but will look forward to being the away team next week.

I believe the score between St.Francis and the Droops was 3-2 to the hosts. No idea what the individual scores were though.

Funny how we are so used to knowing what happens so soon, as we used to only found out 'who did what' on finals night, and feel positively pampered with all the info that Roy sends out nowadays ....plus all the match reports posted here of course ;D 8-) Pity we only got half the match reports on the forum as that would have helped theoldfella too! :'(

With the postal problems as they are, no real surprise that some of the results may not have got through on time...... maybe it shows the benefits of e-mailing the scores through instead? ;)
