TSO So 'raging hormones' has been a problem ? I thought with Joppers gone, hormonal balance would have been restored. ;D Does this mean that Manly Harveys will once more revert to Girlie Fosters ? :o :o And as for 'bionic' Pete, surely that's about the only original part of him that's left ! ;D ;D

Plough, Plumpton 1, Mill House Z 4
Ron Sheridan (2570) 4400, Graham Daniels (370) 4870 Darren Newnham (730) 3270, margo (1840) 3630 Chase Newman & Howard Gould (730) 3020, MrMike007 & tommo (370) 3510 Ian Turner & Ron Sheridan (1740) 5170, Johnny Haigh & margo (1100) 3240 Howard Gould (2200) 2860, Barry Timson (370) 3900
The result does not do the Plough justice, as most games were tight, with a vital shot at the right moment deciding it. The foundation of a 2-0 lead certainly helped the Mill House cause, with Graham getting a decisive 2k break at the end, and star performer margo holding out well despite losing three breaks totalling 2k but which had denied her opponent table time.
A good new venue for the Mid Sussex league, ideal table position, nice big car park, delicious drop of ale according to Barry, nice food, sociable team. We wish them well for the remainder of the season.

HH USC 1 - 4 Brewers Bravos
Graham Sparksman (0) 4030, Adam Bateup (400) 4830. a close but good game with neither of us really playing our best.
Mick Kirwan (1600) 5350, Paul Moyes-Robb (1200) 6100 both are improving players that played well.
Mick Kirwan/Andy Short (1600) 4260, Nikki Hinkins/Lynne M-R (1600) 2730 the boys managed to pull a game back for us.
Graham/Chris Packham (0) 700, Adam/Richard Spurrier (400) 11,480 a devastating pairing on this top where I only got one chance and Adam played it out on his second visit (think Adam had 2x4k and Spud 3k)
Bill (Bilbothetall) Boyce (2770) 4430, Richard (Spud) Spurrier (1200) 4560 a very close game with Spuds last break when the bar dropped making the result.
Thanks for a good evening to such a friendly team (again 2 team mates from another league ;D), and a deserved victory to the Bravos :D

Yes it was great fun, & as we weren't destined up meet up either in the charity or main league is was a good oppertunitinty.
"since (with the exception of League Weeks 1 & 10) 25% of the Teams in the League will have a bye EVERY WEEK during the whole season!"
The down side of this is that the League tables will get very messy & give an unbalanced picture of who is at the top due to who has had the most games played. It will make Roy's job harder to give a picture of the title race. This is not Roy's fault & we all have to live with it.

I agree entirely Ian, it is certainly not the fault of the Fixture Secretary that a team has withdrawn after the start of the season..... :'( Having said that, it is BEFORE the League matches have started...... and it took me less than 10 minutes to work out a schedule that would elimate the bye weeks completely. :o :o

Hi all Everyone will view the changes in a different way, depending on how keen or committed they are. My view is that Roy and the committee have come up with the best solution, and the one that will cause the least confusion. Byes are not everyone's cup of tea. As someone who is paid 4 weekly, and finds it hard to say no to the offer of a drink, I have put a positive spin on it. A BYE IS A WELCOME REST FOR BOTH MY WALLET AND MY LIVER. However I do realise they prolong the season. This can be addressed next season. Really impressed with The Woolie as a venue. Fantastic selection of real ales, which my team managed to work their way through. Suggest you should go left to right, as it is not a good idea to start with the Speckled Hen. The highlight of the night was when Chris headbutted a light, and plunged the pub into darkness, apart from the bar bills light which must be on a different circuit. The candle light was very romantic. Any opinions I have on tables stay within my own team, however if I was to break this habit (which I will not), I would not have anything bad to say about the table. Great venue, friendly welcome. TSO

We have had the ExPrez's angle on this one, so here is the incumbent Prez's one : ;D
Our League's constitution entrusts the various Officers on getting on with their particular jobs and empowers them to make decisions, unless the topic is controversial or momentous - in which case they would enlist the help of the rest of the Committee.
Take last year - there was so much feeling about the original decision to discontinue the Charity Cup, that it was referred to Committee and a U-turn resulted.
On this occasion, the only moot point was whether 17 teams becoming 16 constituted a referral to whether members wanted 'all play all'. I deliberately gave this a brief airing on the Forum, but no-one else took up on it - so the Fixtures Secretary set about his task, which was made easier by the 'offer' of the promoted team St Francis to forego their privilege, thus balancing out the League.
IMHO the minimum of disruption has ensued, I did some handwritten alterations to the fixture list myself for my own team members, and even took one along last Wednesday for my opposing captain at the Plough. So by now it's ancient history! ;)
I hear what Dave is saying, and Byes are a nuisance, but that's life when a team happens to drop out, and in this case there is insufficient justification to involve the Fixtures Secretary in the additional work of re-distributing the League Fixtures......
Having said that, IF the League had had an additional competition lined up, such as an Off-The-Spot, with sponsorship and an already-paid-for Perpetual Trophy donated by an individual, then there would have been justification in removing the Byes, shrinking the League programme and fitting the new competition into the 'spare' weeks.
