Bit of a struggle, but Saints deservedly qualified for the first round of the plate. Best of luck to the Mill in 'the other competition' TSO Why thank you kind sir ! ;D ;D ;D Interesting stat for you as a betting man: It's now Odds On that you will draw either a Hurst or Brewers side in the next round. While for us, it's Odds On that we will play either a Plough or a Watermill side. :o ;D

None of these players appear in the list of registered players sent round by the Old Fella at the start of the season..... ??? Ron Sheridan played against us last week in the Charity League, but was notified by Roy as an 'additional' in an eMail of 10th Sept, so he's okay.

Well spotted sir. We had an e mail re Ron Sheridan. Darren assures me he has registered Jan & Dave at the start of the Charity matches & I trust him. It would have been nice to receive an updated list from the Oldfella. Darren wasn't impressed

the table really needs setting up properly, especially the Red Spot, and offer my help Unfortunately nobody from the Plough uses the Forum, Graham, so nothing will be done unless you lodge an official complaint to the League. I agree with you though that a top score of 2600 in the entire match is not good. Rather than lodge a complaint I rang Mark and we had a good chat and found that he had already contacted Tarrats, he heard from some players that were still there when he got back last night, but he will get back to me if he still wants help. I did explain about the Red Spot placement. Both Trevor and I felt that the table was nearly 'there' and so a little tweak will probably sort it out. My thanks to Mark for his efforts as I know it is he that cleaned the pockets etc and left it looking good for our neutral table match, and for his immediate response today as well. Thanks.

Rather than lodge a complaint I rang Mark and we had a good chat and found that he had already contacted Tarrats Are Tarratts likely to want to know ? Only as I understand it Mark the landlord bought the table himself via eBay. I've played on it a couple of times and found it a vast improvement on its predecessor. 8-) But it's often the way that a new table eventually takes on the same characteristics as the old, due to its location and other playing conditions like being next to a roaring fire. Remember the George & Dragon? Always used to play a certain way, due to having a radiator heating it up on one side. ::)

Despite my 3 abysmal performances on the 'new' Plough table I still thought it showed signs of being a better table than the old one and hope I am proved right, remember the fire is now enclosed so might not be so bad :-/ George & Dragon was a real home table ;D ;D

The list of registered players is issued to advise handicap status for the Charity Cup. I updated the original by email and will re-issue it before the next rounds of the C/Cup. It has never been used for captains to check players for league games, I do that when the score sheets arrive. I was assured by Darren the neither Jan nor Dave would by used in the Charity Cup so I don't know what the bitchy comments are all about.

[moderated to remove thinly veiled pop at the Forum] Well, since it was a CUP game and NOT a League game, so the score sheets should be sent to the Competitions Secretary, not the Fixture Secretary....... :P ..... all I did was point out that 3 people played that were not shown on the List of Registered Players that was sent out at the start of the season. ::) I hardly think that qualifies as a "bitchy comment" and, as a member of the League Committee, I certainly feel that the question was justifiable. Many thanks to the Fixture Secretary for confirming that all 3 are correctly registered...... and welcome Jan and Dave to the Mid-Sussex League, we hope that you will enjoy visiting some new venues and meeting new & old opponents. 8-) ;D
