HH USC 4 - 1 Watermill 'B'
Mick Kirwan 5,040 - 1380 Mark Ridley* They both mucked about for a while then Mick made a very good 4k break and then there was more mucking about ;D However Mark looks like a good player in the making.
Bill Boyce* 2090 - 380 Paul Blackburn Bill was off song (toothache) but Paul had no luck at all :-/
Graham Sparksman 7670 - 5090 Martin Range* Martin broke off with a well constructed 4990 and looked comfortable on the top, unlucky Martin 8-)
Ron Wales* 1990 - 1160 Gavin Boyd Ron edged this bitsy game ::)
Chris Packham 1800 - 2000 Tony Williams* The last few balls decided this game that was close from start to finish :o
Thanks to the 'B's for a good evening

HH USC 4 - 1 Watermill 'B'Graham Sparksman 7670 - 5090 Martin Range* Martin broke off with a well constructed 4990 and looked comfortable on the top, unlucky Martin 8-) Further evidence of how well the table is kept I think! Watermill A 2 - 3 Laughing Fish John Staplehurst 3010 vs 1840 Chris Ashford Chris Nikolaj 2610 vs 2000 Andy Brooks Rodney Storr 2180 vs 2270 Les Whiteman John Willis 660 vs 1720 Keith Fantom Kim Stenning 1030 vs 14600 H All I will say is that the scores from the first four games do not reflect the quality of the table at all - when I got on I found it simply superb with two 7k breaks - don't know who is looking after it but it is the best I have ever found the Watermill table. The earlier lack of scores was simply down to the pockets being a little unforgiving if you hit the balls too hard and a few people where playing good shots but having them whip out. Unlucky to the Watermill obviously without Captain Norm tonight but they were great company as always. Can't comment on the beer since I was driving but the tomato juice could have done with more Worcestershire sauce in it!

CKRBL 3, Mill House Z 2
The Zeds off to their usual 'Shaky' start, and it was Shaky's win against tommo against the break that decided the match in favour of the home team.
Dereck Taylor BP, Graham Daniels 4420 Nip and tuck, this one, Graham making the winning break towards the end. Dilly Williamson 1910, Barry Timson 1830 A last ball game this, Barry having first shot at the 100, but Dilly sinking the 200 to win. Mark Coles 3270, tommo 2360 tommo thought he had the game under control, but spilled a break towards the end which would have put him a thousand ahead, whereupon Shaky took full advantage. Ted Stringer 4420, John Turner 1620 Ted went off with a load (doing the break back to front) and maintained the pressure throughout. Peter Edwards 770, Alan Downs 4760 Alan played his usual sensible game and Pete had no luck whatsoever. Brother Gerry showed him how to do it with 3k in the friendly afterwards. :o
Quality food, corned beef sarnies and tasty cheese and onion. :-*

BREWERS BRAVOS:4 WOOLPACK:1 Nice start to the league
SPUD:4750 MIKE WEBBER:1440 Mr. Webber had me on the run with an 1k plus break early doors and was taking to the table well. I eventually managed to put on a 3k break to seal the frame and had an enjoyable match against an extremley sporting opponent. PAUL:1360 ANNE:830 A match that neither player is likely to put into their "Greatest Hits" compilation, with pegs going down with abandon, Paul just squeaking it in the end. BRAVO:10'260 ALEX SLACK:540 Bravo hit three 2k breaks and one of 4k to win the match. Alex had no luck at all when allowed on the table. Very pleased to see the skip in such good form at the moment. LYNNE:2700 JAN:2060 Both players played well in a good match but Lynne managed to keep her nose ahead after a 1k break mid-frame, although Jan caught up well towards the end. NIKKI:980 STEVE LATHWELL:1420 Steve got one back for his team in an exceedingly good natured match that came down to the last red ball, with Nikki having to go for the 200 hole to win. Despite some vociferous support for Nikki from the bar, it was Steve who held his nerve to sink at the last.
As always, an entertaining and plesant evening with the Woolpack team and look foward to meeting at their place soon.

Greyhound 4 Hurst B 1
Our second trip to the Greyhound & with the same result.
Geoff Fairs 3220 Chris Kirkham 960 Chris off form after a trip to the dentist Neil Burchell 2460 Steve King 4120 Steve our only winner Trevor Rees 4020 Iang 1850 For a while it was close but Trevor got the break back for 2K to seal the leg Peter Burchell 5250 John Lear 760 Peter played very well & John couldn't get the break back Paul Goodwin 2770 Darrell Skinner 1320 Paul got going at the end & made the most of it.
The new table caught a few people out but I'm sure with Trevors T L C it will get better & better. Greyhound are a hard team to beat at home, well played.

Missing report 1, courtesy of the Old Fella:
Hurst A 0, Plough L/B 5 Plough LB off to their customary good start with an away whitewash of Hurst A. Mark Potter concentrated well in the first leg, and despite spilling a 2K5 break somewhere along the line, had a comfortable win over the Old Fella who had no idea at all. Lady H couldn’t get the table to do her bidding and another concentrated effort, this time from Malc Fuller made it 2 nil to the visitors. Geoff parsons hit 5950 to take the match from Jenny Edwards who wasn’t able to do any better than her playmates. A better from the Hurst skipper but a 5K+ score for Mark Webber was enough to take the fourth frame. Into the last, and Papa Hall fared no better that the rest of the Hurst side, being well beaten by Keith Potter with 5500.

Missing report 2, courtesy of the Old Fella, followed by First Week table:
Plough P/G 3, Brewers Droops 2 Newcomers Plough PG has a seesaw game against a short handed Droops side. The Farmer won a good battle against Sean Turner to take an early lead for the visitors. Sir Jock took the next against the new Ron Sheridan with a stunning effort of 11640 put Droops further into the lead. Dave Knight fought well to take a close leg against Noddy Humphrey and pull one back. All square as Chris Farrow hit 5420 to win well against Alan Humphrey. A good contest between the 2 sides was stopped short as Droops could only bring 4 players and the win went to the home side.
