Plough v Greyhound Postponed

Plough v Greyhound Postponed I would imagine that most of tonight's cup games will be off, due to the snowdrifts and treacherous icy conditions. :o The decision is Lorraine's to make of course, but the most convenient way round the situation would appear to be to defer the whole round until when the Semis were due to be placed - on the fixed night of the 3rd March. The semis could then be played on the Charity Cup SemiFinal night (28th April) unless there is a clash. And even if there is, rearranging a couple of semifinals should be a lot easier than trying to fit in 8 quarterfinal matches on a day of the week other than a Wednesday!

Zeds v Plough L/B also called off. Opposing captain has been in touch, and the venue (Brewers) have been informed, also Lorraine !

I have heard nothing from CKRBL. I am more than willing to make the trip to the greyhound tonight, but I'm not the driver, and I've heard nothing from my team so I will keep you posted. I'm half expecting a phone call from someone to call it off though...we shall see

3rd March would certainly make life easier for those of us who play in more than one league.

Some things are more important than Bar Bills. Least you don't have to walk to the pub. I am stuck in a house with no beer. Would a 999 call be apropriate. TSO

Yes I know. I just despair at the panicking over a bit of snow...I am however prepared to admit that it has become more than 'a bit' as the day has gone on.

Mill House Z 3, Plough L/B 2 (at the Brewers)
Margo 1840, Malc Fuller 3110 SuperG 5010, Keith Potter 4070 Barry T 5000, Mark Webber 1050 MrMike007 3680, Des Gasson 3220 tommo 1330, Geoff Parsons 6170
Margo played a spirited first game and at one stage hid behind tommo as Malc, frustrated with the slowness of the table, whacked all the balls round the table. He recovered well to take the frame. 0-1
Keith was first to settle in game two and at one stage led by 3k. SuperG timed his comeback to perfection, played to the bar and rolled up at 1k ahead. 1-1
Barry found his touch straight away, having worked out that the break was extremely thin, and denied Mark much of a chance. 2-1
Mick built up a 2k lead but had an agonising wait towards the end as Des sussed exactly what to do on the table and ran Mick close. Another minute on the bar and he would have caught him ! (What am I saying, it's a long bar anyway, 19 minutes !) 3-1
Geoff showed what could have been in the last game with some good 50 potting and allowing for the left hand roll, and tommo had no answer. 3-2
Two former stars of Mid Sussex were spotted at the bar: Norman Aylett and Mark Spicer (both featured in championship winning sides Brewers B, Potters Arms and Kings Head D). They have been away from the game for 15 years or more and were surprised to see the 'same old faces still battling it out over a bar billiards table'. Don't be surprised if they are snapped up by a worthy cause...............

Laughing Fish 4 - 1 CKRBL @ Greyhound
We went 3-0 up. Table was not easy - had quite a nasty drift if you went for any straight pot. Still, right result and a pleasant night with the Kleiners!
