To all,
As from this post I will be stepping down from my position as Global Moderator and leaving the forum for good. This to be honest has been in the pipeline for a while, there is so much going on in my life at present with looking after my elderly mother and Carol the new lady in my life. My role in the Wallingford League is also taking a lot of my time up and really need to channel my time into this more. These last few months I have kicked many technical and security forums into touch due to the lack of time and spreading myself too thinly, but have kept with this one for as long as possible due to the friends I have here, many of which I have met around the BB circuit at Opens and other events and all will be sadly missed for their wit and charm, but hopefully will still make a few more opens yet and see you again. I hope over the time we have all been here together that any technical help I have been able to provide has been useful and if anyone needs help then I am only an email away, you are all welcome to any help I can still give.
What happened recently at the Wallingford League committee meeting was a private matter and was not for this forum and will remain that way as far as I am concerned so will not be added to by me. Just for the record no proposal or voting was done by me and if anyone wants to know more then maybe talk to Dennis or Sue Atkins. I repeat this is not for the forum.
A number of issues have been discussed over the life of this forum that would be better to have never been discussed without everyone knowing the full facts and backgrounds of it all. They have usually ended in deep hurt to everyone involved and I ask 'all members' in future to think about this before diving in with comments until both sides of the story are heard, and maybe consider just 'why and to what end' is the poster pushing the post.
On a positive note it is nice to see the flurry of activity in the forum with the various fun threads, quizzes etc adding to the entertainment value this supplementing the more serious threads that get discussed over time. Glenn should be proud of what he has achieved here and I was proud to be a part of it and hoped to take it on into a full website full of info that his plans were for. I do hope Glenn proceeds with this as it will really add to the BB knowledge in the game to as wide an audience as possible and maybe keep the game going a little longer. Glenn get your heart back into it and do the site.
Thanks to Glenn, Sav and the other moderators for the support we give each other and I leave it all in your hands now.
Well thats about all I have to say, yes I am sad, very hurt and emotional about leaving, but it is my decision and I am sure the person who instigated this will be really proud of himself.
Best regards
Kevin Pringle

I hope you reconsider Kev. Your technical expertise has been invaluable.
Whatever m8, almost all of us luv ya!! the rest ain't worth worrying about.
Someone has to put their head above the parapet and moderate and keep things in line. They will never be popular and get called petty tyrants etc.
I thank you for your time and wish you all the best with your new lady friend.
I too am going to take a step back at the end of this year and will be resigning as an England selector as I will not be going to some of the opens next year. As with you, those who will get spread too thinly by those who won't. This does not affect the future of my set of tables for the next year until I see what happens with M & D taking over the reigns. I will help where I can for the transition period this year.
Chris.

Well, what can I say. This has happened fast for me, however I know who have been very busy as of late, and all our priorities in life change at some point, and we all have to look at things and do whats best, in all walks of life I'm sure you will agree.
Kevin, I can't thank you enough for the help you have provided for myself and others in this forum. You have helped technically, have added to many things within this website and have always done the job I asked you too without fuss or questions. Even when we had problems ourselves and misunderstandings, we were able to work through them for the sake of this website, for that I thank you, in fact I'm sure that we all thank you. Bar Billiards needs people like yourself who are prepared to put in the extra hours and make things better for all of us. Having you around made this place better for us. You took on roles and done things for me to make this place better, and you never once asked for the credit that you fully deserved.
It's a bit hard to understand unless your the owner like myself. Running this website, and I kid you not on this, could be a full time job. It got to the point where I could just not do it all on my own, and you and Sav stepped up to the plate and helped me out. People don't realize the backbone of the work is done far away from the public eye, and you did more work than anyone, myslef included, on the things that need to be done, or else this website would not be here.
It's important that everyone sees that, and that you realize just how grateful I am for your help. I know who had your problems with some people, just as I have, but you hung in there as long as you could doing what you thought was best, and what I asked you too. What more could ever want?
Regardless of what the odd person may think, I have always and will always maintain that your knowledge with computers is second to none, you intentions have been good, and you have done a great service to me and everyone who values this website as a tool to help Bar Billiards. You've done more than people will ever know, and once again I can't thank you enough for that.
I'm truly sorry you are leaving, but that's the way it goes. It won't come as a shock to you when I say I understand, and as far as leaving goes, then I'll be the next one to go, and this website will then have a new owner who can put up with everyones grudges, problems, and petty arguments.
But you will always be welcomed back here, and I hope you continue to browse and post on the site like everyone else does.
Take Care Kev, and I'll buy you a drink at the next open....

This was never meant to be a "petty argument"
When anyone has started debates on this forum in the past, it has only been a matter of time before both sides of the story are recorded, and some sort of agreement has been made, or at least an agreement to differ has been made.
Why has this been so different?
It would seem as though I am getting the blame or being used as a scapegoat for this when all I was doing was acting upon a letter from a non-member and trying to get both sides of the story before taking an opinion.
I have now had a message from the previous Secretary of the League concerned who indicates that HE always ran the meetings as Secretary before moving away. If that had been stated by either side, it would have been the end of the matter as far as I was concerned.
But there you go, it's all my fault.
Nice knowing you all IF I am banned for this post as has been intimated.

No Peter, I will not be banning you, despite what was, in my view, a deliberate attempt to embarass someone you do not like, KP.
One email to KT would have explained that Wallingford have always worked that way as happened when I emailed him and he contacted you.
An apology to KP would be nice, but I suspect ten pages at the front of the next BBQ (and probably threatened last) is more likely. Prove me wrong and I'll apologise for this.
Outside of this forum, I thank you for what you have done for bar billiards and, I sincerely hope, will continue to do so. On here keep it friendly. Sav.

Outside of this forum, I thank you for what you have done for bar billiards and, I sincerely hope, will continue to do so. On here keep it friendly. Sav. Phew! I was NOT trying to embarrass anyone whatever you think. I was purely trying to get BOTH sides of the story before I replied to Charlie Wheeler's letter. I certainly do not intend even mentioning this at all in the next BBQ. It would not interest most subscribers in the slightest. Kevin T had, apparently, guessed that it was the Wallingford League being featured but chose not to get involved. And I firmly believe that it was NOT down to me to contact KT privately or anyone else involved as I initially wished to keep it all very vague, hoping that it could be resolved quickly. Kevin T's explanation that HE ran Wallingford meetings in the past should be enough explanation, although why they appointed Chairman and Vice-Chairman at all is still unexplained. Many, many other grievances have been aired in this way in the past (some with successful conclusions) including at least one by the Honorable Forum Owner himself. So, I firmly believe that I have done absolutely nothing wrong, and certainly will not be apologising as I cannot see that I have anything to apologise for. I do, however, regret informing anyone the names of the personalities involved, because it obviously changed certain people's attitude. I understand that some people find themselves in difficult positions and have to favour friends when they are called upon to make tough decisions. I don't have that problem, because I don't have any left after being called upon to make many tough decisions over the last few years. No wonder we are short of nominations for committee members. But, at least, I can never be called two-faced! Now, please, will nobody else get me involved in your private little grievances. I don't want to know, OK?

Thank you for letting me know it was Wallingford Peter, it was a wake up call. I will however apologise publicly to KP for not stomping on this witchunt when it first appeared, whilst KP was away for a few days. I failed in my duty as a global mod when I realised it was more than an innocent post. I should have realised the answer to the question was so obvious it did not need posting on here, regardless of who the secretary was Not double standards Peter, I should have realised. Sorry Kev. Chris.

Funny, I've often heard people say about Pete that he should "get knighted" - or at least I think that's what they said.... ;D

All the best Kevin, hope you'll reconsider and at least contribute to the forum in the future. It was good knowing you when you played in the heady heights of the Dover & Deal league for a while, and good luck in the future.
The work of a moderator is similar to that of a referee or umpire, rarely appreciated, often maligned, but essential to the running of the game.

As others do not seem to want to finish with this, I will have a couple more things to say.
Apologies were promised by Johnny once and NEVER materialised. That's fine, I didn't want one and never asked for one, but I do not believe that anyone should say he would do so and then conveniently forget....... (so perhaps he should keep out of this)
I will repeat that I did nothing wrong. It would have been very easy for the Sec to explain that Wallingford had been used to doing this, rather than just sit tight and wait for the shit to fly. Could it be that he was looking for an excuse to emotionally exit from the forum with pride, and use me as a scapegoat, given that he now has "other" commitments and had been "thinking of doing so for some time".
The reasoning behind having a chairman and vice-chairman at all are still unexplained.
It has been claimed that he did not even see my original post (Nov 16th) on the subject because he "was away for a few days". I have to say that I doubt this is true, although I will probably be banned for saying so. There is hard evidence however, as he commented on the Charity Challenge on Nov 17th. Check that out.
I just do not understand why...
1. I am being gunned for "trying to embarrass" him when he would only have a reason for being embarrassed if he thought he had done something wrong. If it was "innocent" he could just have said so.
2. Chris completely changed tack when he was told who was involved. His private message starting with the words "Oh Gawd". On Nov 16th, he was first to respond with "the vice-chairman should have run the meeting" but then (on Nov 19th) "Thinking about this further...."
It is NOT the way for moderators to act. They should make decisions based on FACTS, not on personalities as I had to when I was Tournament Director.
I repeat that I will not be made a scapegoat in this. If you want to have me banned, sobeit.
If so, Goodbye all! If not, forget it

Oh Gawd, its like a stuck record. >:( I thought you said it was over?
I have already apologised for my failure as a moderator, at least I had the manners to do so for causing someone pain.
No further comment is needed from me.
Justify away Peter, you are just digging a bigger hole for yourself.
Chris.

Your reaction too speaks for itself. When no justification can be found, you just poo-poo the alternative point of view.
I trust you will let us all know if Kevin decides to peek into the forum occasionally!
So, are you now going to close this one?

No, I'm going to close it.
This was a thread about someone leaving the forum, someone who has done a great deal of work for us over a long period of time, and in his last posts where everyone gets the chance to say goodbye and send there thanks, I see this going on. I don't care who's right or who's wrong anymore, this is not the thread..... and persoanlly I'm upset about this.
I suggest you email Kev if you want to speak to him and pass on your thanks. It's a shame you can;t do it in public, but then again I guess that's a big reason why he left....
