I beat Tommo 2-1 at the Woolpack tonight...... both of the first two games were won against the break, the decider was very close at the 10 minute stage of the game until I was first to get the balls back and run in a 4k break to take the game 7.5k to 3k. ;)
First time I have been to the Woolpack..... lovely pub, the food looked great and a very friendly landlord who was clearly supportive and interested in the game. 8-)
The table is located in its own corner of the pub and, with a small tweak to eliminate the right hand roll, it would be a high scoring top. A really good venue that deserves to be supported. ;D
Many thanks to Colleen for scoring the games..... and to Clive and Margo for their usual great company. 8-)

Amen to all that as BB Warrior was a worthy winner. He unlocked the table's secrets far quicker than me and the first game was one-way traffic. I was rather surprised to snatch the second game by being in the right place at the right time, but the Mighty One's form returned just when he needed it and he played out time for a great 4k break which included some great 50-hole play of which I was extremely jealous. 8-)
Thanks to Colleen for scoring all three games, and margo and I enjoyed our evening, our first visit to the Woolpack too. What a great pub !

I Have to Agree, Hurst B had a trip out there when we had a bye the other week & met Lance the Landlord who made us very welcome. A very nice pub & when we were ther they had a 1920 /30's style Jazz band which the older members of my team enjoyed ;) ;)
I quite liked it as well :D

i beat ian 2-1 tonight ian played superbly in the 1st with me managing to get a go at the break right at the end but already 4k behind second game saw me peg my opening break with ian getting 1000 ahead of me before i finally retrieved the balls back and put in a 3+k break at the end to take to a decider.
ian won the toss and went off with 450 i had the balls back and put in 3.6k before hitting ball to softly and just kept plodding away to keep a steady lead. sorry ian played well last night and deserved to win but the luck ended up on my side some how

Richard Vs. Dilly was played on tuesday evening and resulted in a simple 2-0 victory for Dilly.
1st frame i missed the break and missed everything else. Dilly played solidly to take this one 3k to 1k.
2nd frame, Dilly led off with a decent 2.5k and scored reguarly. I scraped the break back after some time but missed that as well. Dilly went on for another 1.5k and lead 5k to 200. After that i conceded the match, rather wishing the ground would swallow me up.
Well played to Dilly then, who played a good match and played the table so much better than i did. All the best to him in the following rounds

I believed that I was awarded a walkover since the game had not been played, even after an extension was generously allowed by Lorraine, and as was indicated here on the forum.
However Geoff Fairs saw me at Roffey for the 1day comp on Sun 21 Feb and told me he had won the match (I've no idea when it was played but must have been past the extension date) and said we had to play each other, which only left 7 days for the game to be played and that only allowed me Tuesday (if not called up as reserve) or Thursday available (remember I was table setting Friday/Sat/Sun plus Sun Interleague) he could not do Tuesday and initially agreed Thursday but then found he couldn't make that either so eventually he 'gave' me the game.
I expect Lorraine would have upheld my right to a walkover but had decided to play the game anyway......end result walkover.
