Second half of the season kicked off with Mill House making up for the defeat by CKRBL of the first half.
Quite an eventful evening with some interesting 'banter' between Graham and Derek whilst at the table. :o
Peter turned in a dogged performance in the last game to avoid the 'brush', and even then with the bar down and the red gone, Mick nearly pulled off the impossible, going up the table and back to pot a 200 off a ball behind the 50 - only to sink both balls with his last shot when he needed to keep one on the table.
Mill House Z 4, CKRBL 1
Johnny Haigh 6690, Ted Stringer 970 Barry Timson 5970, Dilly Williamson 1050 Graham Daniels 6500, Derek Taylor 4350 tommo 10,590, David Page 550 Mick Holmwood 2490, Pete Edwards 2620

WATERMILL B:2 HHUSC:3
Martin - 1050 Mick - 2520 Very hit and miss game to start (literally!). Both players making small breaks but Mick finally ran out a deserved winner. 0-1
Gavin - 4630 Graham - 2600 Graham gave gavin a lot of chances early on. gavin managed to get the break back and put 1700+ down before Graham came back with 2000+. Another fine break of 1700+ from Gavin and an unluck WP from Graham gave The Mill a great win. 1-1
Lee - 780 Bill - 1590 1st half of the match was a bit scrappy but some good scores from Bill kept the game ticking along. By the time the bar went there was not enough time for Lee to come back. A close match in the end. 1-2
Mark - 1470 Terry - 1580 A good tight game with Mark leading for most of the match. Went down to the last ball with Terry 10 points in the lead. The big man duly dispatched to last ball in the 100 to claim a good win. 1-3
Paul - 1730 Ron - 130 Paul had a few run in's with the White peg, but Ron's very unfortunate assault on the Black peg gave Paul a good win to salvage a bit of pride. 2-3
Many thanks to Graham and the team for a good close game.

WOOLPACK 2: BREWERS BRAVOS:3
Jim Blake:430 Bravo:3340 No repeat of the 9k break Bravo had here in the knockout cup but a solid win nonetheless.
Lynn Storr:2150 Lynne Moyes Robb:1080 In the battle of the Lynnes, it was Storr who got the equaliser for her team with a well played game and kept her opponent off the break all frame.
Alex Slack:1130 Nikki:2540 Nikki played her finest game of the season and knocked in the nights highest break of just under 1k. Alex played well at the end but was too far adrift.
Anne Stockinger:1160 Spud:1530 For the second time this season i was drawn against break on this top and again never found it all game. A tad lucky that Anne black-pegged her opener as that was the only difference between us all frame. That, and accidently poking my opponent with my cue to set off a fit of the giggles.
Jan Hinkins:1560 Carole Buxton:1480 With Paul away this week, his sister was drafted in for her first Mid-Sussex match and played very well in a close match. In the end though, it was Jan who held her nerve and sunk the last ball before Carole to give her side a good consolation point.
So, a good hard fought victory for the Bravos against this sociable and friendly team. The venue was as accomodating as ever and we wish the team the best for the rest of the season.
Other news: Got back to the Brewers to find the Droops had gone down 4-1 to the Plough in a high-scoring match.

Laughing Fish 3 -2 Watermill A
H 13,530 vs 810 Chris Nikolaj Chris let me on early and I got the break back for 12.5k. Rest of the game was spent at the back of the table.
Chris Ashford 3770 vs 1480 John Staplehurst Chris knocked in a break of 1.9k plus a few other medium ones to win comfortably.
Les Whiteman 0 (BP) vs 2630 Norman Cragg Doesn't seem to matter what I tell the team about averages, Les being slightly out of reach near the end went for the 200 and pegged it.
Ray Carpenter 0 (BP) vs 2700 Rodney Storr This was a case of Ray needing the 200 to win by 10 points, but sadly another peg was felled.
Andy Brooks 5420 vs 3230 Kim Stenning Kim opened with 1k. The old man then got them back and knocked in consecutive breaks of 1.3k, 1.4k and 1.9k for a very good decider.
A great night in the company of the Watermill boys, we wish them the best for the rest of the season.

mama hall only winner break nice didnt get go back of the table terrible i gave up by the end but that is now my only bad game im having
[edit] The Old Fella had this to report about the match: Plough LB move into second place after their home win over struggling Hurst A. Des Gasson took a low scoring first leg off the Old Fella and Geoff Parsons put a few more points on the board to defeat Lady H. Mama Hall grabbed the third in determined fashion from Mark Webber but the match went to Plough when a patient Mark Potter overcame a frustrated Bobhall. Keith Potter hit the only 5K of the match when taking the last from Papa Hall.

From week 9, Plough LB 2, CKRBL 3 ..........and from the same source, with our thanks, the two reports which complete this week's set of matches: Eight Bells 2.5, St Francis 2.5Saints keep the lead in division 1 after sharing the points with 8 Bells at the Bolney venue. Shaun Morris took the first in determined style from Tony Driver and Peter Geal put Saints further into the lead with a win over Posh Bob. Lady Ros started the Bells fight back with a close run game against Bob Ellis. Nick Brown took frame 4 from Manly Harveys, leaving Sir Trevor and Foggers to sort out the decider. With 1390 points apiece, the match was drawn. Brewers Droops 1, Plough P/G 4Plough PG share second place thanks to a good away win against the Droops. Jock went off with 8K to take frame 1 from Jan Bithell. That was their lot as Plough opened the throttle and took frame 2 to a Darren Newnham 5K over Noddy Humphrey. Frame 3 went to a Dave Knight 5K over The Farmer and it was match won as Ron Sheridan beat Liam Churcher. Chase Newman hit his own 5K when taking the last game from Fred Jones.
