Watermill A 3, Mill House Z 2 (played at CKRBL)
Watermill A emerged victorious from a tense tussle to book their place in the Final, but did it the hard way, coming from 1-2 down and needed a bit of luck (deserved) to do it !
Kim Stenning (0) 2640, Graham Daniels (410) 3820 Norman Cragg (410) 3090, Mick Holmwood (410) 1640
.........both games went with the break so far.
Chris Nikolaj & John Staplehurst (820) 2560, Johnny Haigh & Margo (1230) 3930
........superb play from both Johnny and Margo to give the Crawley side the advantage.
Kim Stenning & Norman Cragg (0) 3810, Graham Daniels & tommo (410) 1960.
Kim lost his opening break of 1400 with an unlucky peg, but Graham only made similar in his reply. On Kim's next visit he compiled a superb break of 3k but late in the game Graham had this one in the bag: 1k behind but on the table and 2k going with the bar due. Two balls reached the 50 hole together and one ejected the other to the middle of the table near the hundred. Graham had to play off the side cushion and lost the break, and the bar soon went which brought it to 2-all.
Chris Nikolaj (820) 7400, Barry Timson (410) 670 Chris won the toss, and, playing some beautiful shots along the way, compiled a patient break of 5k to which Barry didn't really have an answer. But it was not without an anxious moment, when Chris had to play of the side cush for a ball behind the 30 hole. He misjudged it - but wait ! The cue ball leapt back out of the 20 hole like a salmon, and kissed the ball behind the 30 and both balls went down ! He hadn't deserved to lose the 5k after playing so well, so his final score of 7k earned a well-merited round of applause.
The Mill House have enjoyed our run out in the Charity Cup this year, and would like to wish the Watermill all the best in the Final.
But first, we have to go through it all again next week when both sides meet up again at the Laughing Fish for the Team Cup Semi-Final. :o
