Finals Night
Another interesting night, with some twists and turns.
Congratulations on all the winners. ;D
Kevin Ross had to be at his best to beat Ted Dunkley to clinch his first major honour in the 2nd Division Individual Trophy. ;D
Then we had the battle of the new pairings of Lorin Clough & Stephen Coleman against Johnny George & Damian Coates.
It was very close right through both games but in the end Stephen and Lorin just couldn't do enough but i'm sure they will be a pairing to watch next year. So congratulations goes out to Johnny and Damain for winning their first Doubles trophy on their first attempt. ;D
In the individuals Simon Coleman beat Charlie Peel with not too much trouble and Damian Coates had to be at his best to beat Jason Neal which he did over the 2 legs. In the Final Damian missed his first break and gave Simon a chance to get in front , which he did and won the first game by around 8000 with Simon breaking in the 2nd game, even though the 2nd game was a lot closer Simon managed to hold on and win the Individuals for 3rd time. ;D
In the Team Knock final it was The Fox against the Rushden Cons, and the pressure was on the Fox as they were trying to stop Rushden doing the clean sweep. In a very fun :D but serious >:( game The Fox came out winners with an outstanding victory of 5 - 0. ;D
Jim Wilson
Another great day with it all going fairly smooth, a few minor problems but all sorted in the end.
In the fun side of it Simon Coleman and Heather beat Sean and Sally in the mixed pairs for the very first time. Well played heather ;) ::)
Next was the Plate competition which was very close right up to the last few minutes When Roo hare managed to get the break back and beat Damian Coates by just over 1000 points. ;D
In the main event of the day their were many top seeds eager to win this one, their were many good acheivements on the way with Stephen Coleman knocking out Andy Chambers, Lorin Clough getting high scores in his first challenge here and ending up with the highest break award. But in the end the final ended up with Jason Neal and Simon Coleman. With Jason wanting to be the first to retain this major trophy and Simon still on a high from winning the individuals the night before it was always going to be a close game and a hard one to call.
Simon struggled early on and Jason took full advantage and made a good break, even though Simon came back with someon the day Jason was too strong and was a worthy winner. Jason Retains the Jim Wilson trophy which i believe is his 4th time and Simon on the other half still has yet to win the competition even though being a losing finalist now 4 times. All the congratulations are Jasons though as he had a very tough draw throughout but did not let anyone stand in his way. ;D
Other winners of the day were
Best 2nd division player - Sally Martin-Getty
Losing Semi- Finalists - Ian Coleman & Lorin Clough
Best Scorer of the day who must of scored nearly every time he did n't play - Steve Ainscombe.
Thanks to everyone who helped on organise the way and help run the 2 events ( you know who you are ) and a big thanks To Simon for delivering the tables and being patient as we did over run slighty. ( Looking forward to our Billiards and pool match next week ;) ;D
