what's so important about tonight's games of world cup lol England don't play till Wednesday Something to do with the big screen in the bar right in the way of the bar billiards? They wouldn't be able to move let alone hear themselves think. ::)

what's so important about tonight's games of world cup lol England don't play till Wednesday Although there is some truth in BBW's post :-[ tommo has the right answer - there is a huge screen in the games room, the table has been pushed to the wall with a cover on since the beginning of the tournament, with the pool table moved over too for the bigger matches. Once we get past the group stages, there are enough days between matches to make it worthwhile to move the table out to playing position for some days. We should be OK for our next home tie.

Hurst Club 4 United Services Club 2
Lorraine Hall 0 - 3,220* Bill Kerr Bill lost his opening 2k+ break when he parked a ball behind the 10 hole..... :'( .... but managed to get them back and run in a nice 2.8k break later in the game with Lorraine having no luck at all. 0-1
Kevin Hall 6,080* - 1,830 Dave Ingram Kev started with about 1.8k, balls stayed awkward for a while with neither of us able to work out the "new" quirks on the table before I managed to get the break back and got back into contention, Kev then ran in a well worked 3k to seal the win. 1-1
Richard Jeffrey 0 - 5,680* Tony Jenner Good game from Tony which included the highest break of the night (3,270) while Sir Jock never got to grips with the table. 1-2
Rob Hall 1,740* - 1,620 Gina Sherratt Bobhall off very early in the game and the balls then got into more and more awkward places as the game went on, with Bobhall managing to maintain a lead of about 1k..... Gina nearly managed to make a great comeback with some great shots to give herself a chance, but unfortunately sunk the last 2 balls when she needed to keep the red up.... :'( 2-2
Bobhall & Sir Jock 3,250 - 2,690* TJ & BB Warrior Neither side took their chances when they came along which meant that it was always going to be close with the home side just doing enough in the end.... 3-2
Kev & Lorraine 5,410* - 1,780 Bill & Gina Good last game from Kev & Lorraine, with Kev hitting a very patient 1k break on the left hand 50 to help build up a winning lead and seal the win. 4-2
An excellent evening with the usual fun and friendly banter between the two teams and a Bobhall Banquet to end proceedings. 8-)
The table seemed "different" to usual, which was explained that the table had been "adjusted" recently by somebody (not a member of the home team) and the "new quirks" caught everybody out on occasions. ::)
It certainly didn't affect the result, but IMHO, nobody should touch another teams table unless they have been specifically asked to do so by the Home Captain. >:( :-X

All now available to see on t'website...................
Sorry, BBW, placed the Plough above the Fish in the table as they have a game in hand. Your version is more technically correct.
Great competition so far, even for a 'remote spectator'. ;)
