I haven't been able to spend as much time on the Forum as usual lately, due to work and other commitments....... but TJ mentioned last night that we had a game and I then spotted this post .... :o ... it had obviously got "lost" beneath threads about Fantasy Football and Missing Summer Results...... ::)
No official notification of the match was sent to our team or captain...... >:( ..... what would have happened if nobody had looked at the Forum and noticed that we had a match? :P
Hopefully, we will be able to get a full team out for the match..... and our opponents (and the venue) will also know that there is a match tonight..... ::) ???
The Forum is a brilliant way to transmit information...... but it should NOT take the place of formal notification of matches to teams and players as not everybody has access to it.

Hear, Hear. Dave.
The Secretary and/or the Fixture Secretary are responsible for making sure that teams and venues are notified of matches in advance. This means that notification has to be made not just through the Forum but via local newsletters.
I hope all teams manage to get full teams out tonight.

I hope all teams manage to get full teams out tonight. Thanks to Gina making lots of phone calls, we did get a full team to the West Tarring Club...... 8-) Old House at Home 4 Windmill 1 Neil Higgins 4,820 - 0* Alan Messer Gary Ridley 1,970* - 970 Gina Sherratt Paul Barnett 2,520 - 1,400* Edge Butler Nick Brown 2,510* - 1,690 Mick Pope Tony Burgess 920 - 9,220 Dave Ingram Some fantastic banter during the course of the evening, the pick of which was possibly Edge asking Alan if the balls were rolling..... Alan, with a totally straight face, replied "well Edge, as the balls are round, they normally do roll.....!" ;D ;D Enjoyable evening and a well deserved win for the Old House...... good luck to them in the Final. ;)

Hi everyone, sorry about the lack of communication ::) Probably my fault more than Daves, with only a week inbetween Plate matches, it would have been down to me to email all the captains involved :-/ Thanks to one or two captains we were able to play every match. Well done to the winners, good luck in the final ;)

Henty v Schooner
Dave Jones 2800 2170 Rick Cunningham * This one set up how the table was going to be for the rest of the evening, would not be so bad if roll was consistent. Rob Driver * 1140 1870 Terry Molloy Ros Appleby 1290 2310 Steve Aylmore * Bob Hall * 2550 1490 Tony Jenner Chris Lucas * 250 2680 Dave Anscombe *
A good evening and plenty of banter ( not to miss one or two unrepeatable comments about the table), Again shame venue was not expecting us, as had not received card posted out to them Monday

That`s odd TJ, I called in there on Tuesday afternoon as I was clearing out the post office opposite and had a quick chat with Suzi. I told her there was a match on and she acknowledged the fact. ???

Sorry guys As you know my computer's hard drive packed up and a Black Peg which would normally have been delivered by now would've had the Nobby Clark draws in it. I now have a hard drive to install but need a new operating system and have been quoted £120. So looking to borrow my son's copy when he can find it. (He has just moved). I hope to be back in operation very shortly.
PS. I cannot believe cards posted on the Monday have failed to arrive by the Thursday

Knowing how much work is spent behind the scenes with organising pubs/clubs/cards/teams/draws/minutes/competitions, I would like to say to both Kevin and Dave what a shame that when you slip up once you get slated but the other 99% of the time when every thing runs smoothly, I don't see anyone on here complimenting you
What a strange world we live in that people like to publicly let you know how you have failed and yet they don't bleat how well you have achieved eh!
I know for a fact that one of my team phoned over a week ago to find out draw, times, pub etc Hmmmm, pro-active or just keen - whatever. Our team and opposing team had no problem knowing where to go, when and who they were playing.
To Kevin and Dave - many thanks for running this competition
To the Swan - well done, we had an enjoyable evening, I hope you go all the way

Unfortunately at the Dolphin, Suzi was not about and the girl behind the bar seemed to know nothing about a game. I realise that a lot is done to organise these events, but you can realise the frustration for somebody (in this case Gina) when the first they know is the afternoon of the game, and then have to get their team organised at short notice. I do not think those involved are aiming at any particular people and as Chairman I hold my hands up that prehaps could have at least chased up to see if contact had been made. We realise that it is a technical age but some do not eithert have the use of a computer or the technical knowledge to find the information. In the case of our game just a lack of communication between the landlady and staff working that night. Some landlords find it embarrising and annoying when they do not know game on.

Swan `B` 4 - 1 Dolphin. Wins for Barry Holt, Doug Mahy, Roger Taylor and Matthew Squire for the Swan. Dave Hampton won the game for the Dolphin. I don`t know the scores so I am hoping Doug puts them on.
