That's a new and interesting idea for the league, to have teams play each other home/away and on a neutral table.
That's something that has never been done in the Oxford league before, although I know it's done in other areas, ie; Jersey, Guernsey, Northants, Sussex, etc.

That's something that has never been done in the Oxford league before, although I know it's done in other areas, ie; Jersey, Guernsey, Northants, Sussex, etc. I like this idea but having seen and studied the fixture list I have noticed that some teams are playing their neutral table matches the week after playing the league fixture on that table. I don't think this is fair for the opposing team in the neutral table match if the opposition has played on it the week before. There's also teams playing the neutral match and then going on the same table for the league fixture the week after. This isn't fair on the home side. Surely a three week gap could have been organized, so these issues above didn't cause upset amongst teams. One other point to make is that the fixture list has Democrats v Comrades playing at the Masons on the 24th Feb 2011 but on the Neutral table sheet it has got at the Vikings. Either of these tables would mean that one of the teams would be affected with the problems that I have stated above. Keith :o (Proof Reader for the AEBBA Newsletter ;D)....at least Nigel will understand this joke!!

Hi Champ I have noticed that some fixtures may be unfair I'm looking into it at the moment trying to change around a bit.
Nigel Senior sent me a printed format for the league, perhaps I should have studied it before I sent it out.

On neatral tables toss for breaks 1st & 3rd or 2nd & 4th games last game equal breaks timed. In case teams have lost their rule book or have forgotten this rule...... EQUAL TIME RULE. The table time should be established and agreed before the start of the final game. Should the first player consume in excess of half the agreed time with their opening break, the second player shall be permitted equal time for their opening break in the attempt to pass the first players opening break. Further coins should be inserted before the second player commences their break. Once extra coins have been inserted, the game will be over when; a) the second player passes the first players opening score. b) the second player has consumed the agreed equal time. c) the second player breaks down on their opening break. Perhaps it would be a good idea for a copy to be sent to each of the venues mentioned above. ::)

I thought the extra “Neutral table” matches was a good idea at first but after seeing all the problems this has caused regarding the planning of neutral tables and arranging the competition fixtures around them I now think that the only way for this to have worked was to extend the season longer by either moving the Oxford Finals date to a later date, i.e. June or start a few weeks earlier. This would give more time/weeks to get all the neutral matches, competition matches & Team Cups, e.g. K.Os & Scotland Ash to be played on Thursdays.
If the AEBBA tables are all booked up in June then the earlier start suggestion would have to apply.
I do realise that there were problems again early on in the season that have affected the organisation and smooth running of the league but still feel that the above should be considered if we are to continue with the use of neutral tables to extend the league season.

Keith Thanks for your imput but the Officers & Committee have already discussed this. ( Ages ago) Do you have sleepless nights?
