Hurst B 1 Greyhound 4
Ian Giffen 2000 Trevor Rees 4380 Steve King 4760 Peter Burchell 5010 Colleen Park 2510 Paul Goodwin 7550 Paul Jobbins 9680 Ted Stringer 1350 John Lear 50 Geoff Fairs 2460
All the luck went my way in the first game. The game of the night second with Steve sitting pretty 4K ahead when Peter realised the game was not skittles and played out with a rapid 4k break to win on the last ball. Paul played vey well giving Colleen little chance. Paul Jobbins saved the brush with top score of 9680 short straw for Ted A close game between John and Geoff was settled when John somehow managed to black peg.

The Zeds kickstarted their season with a mixture of good and bad at the Woolpack.
Woolpack 0, Mill House Z 5 'Big' Nigel Bransby BP, tommo 1360 Malcolm Fuller 1520, SuperG 8590 Anne Stockinger BP, MrMike007 2470 Lyn Storr 1040, Margo 1670 Jan Hinkins 710, Barry Timson 3780
Big Nige desperately unlucky in the first, against an out-of sorts Tommo: early black peg from tommo, who then caught up and overtook. Nigel steady throughout and had a nice 400 break to the bar to leave himself first go at the 200 to win. Unfortunately he BP'd. Mal drew short straw and SuperG ran riot in game 2. MrMike a bit tentative in game three - playing more like tommo than SuperG. Margo played well to beat Lyn against the break, Lyn edging to within 400 towards the end, but Margo picking off a super red-in-100 as the bar dropped. Jan missed out on her thousand when she spilled a nice break of 400+ at the end.
Nice venue and company, good variety of sandwiches. Good luck to the Woolie in your next games.

Horns Lodge 3 Plough PG 2
Report courtesy of the OldFella: "The Horns Lodge played their first match of the new season against some old friends from the Plough PG. Geoff Winson took a close first game off Darren Newnham and a Dave Tiffin win over Ron Sheridan gave the home side a 2 nil lead. Sean Turner took a frame for the Plough from Nick Pitcher and it was all square after the 4th frame where Chase Newman defeated the Lodge skipper, Kevin Stevens. Chris Farrow pitched in at the last with a victory over Dave Knight to give the Lodge a first win in Mid-Sussex."

Eight Bells 3 Laughing Fish 2
Ros 1900 - H* 5050 Denise 1490* - Ray Carpenter 1310 Tony D 880 - Jim Ashford* 3610 Doug 6700* - Les Whiteman 800 Nick 5270 - Chris Ashford* 1460
H was off cheaply on his opening break, but I failed to capitalise: taking out far too many pegs! I did manage to get close after a good run on the 50 pocket, but never managed to get the balls back. It was H who managed to get the break back and put in a good 3k in the dying minutes.
Denise opened with a useful break, which left Ray always struggling to catch her. Although he got close, Denise put away the last two balls to deny him a chance at the 200 hole.
Jim was always in control in the third game and a good 2k break in the middle put it beyond Tony's reach.
Doug opened with a very nice 5690 break, leaving Les with little chance.
Chris hit the break too thick, Nick gradually pulled ahead on this game, but it was still anybody's until Nick got the balls back to put in 3k to the bar.
Great evening in good company, with lots of banter. Nice pasta bake with garlic ciabatta too. 8-)

HH USC 3 - 2 Plough L/B
in order of play Andy Short 2260 - 70 Keiron Budd* 1st ever competitive game for promising young Keiron and he broke off with 1k but didn't keep it, then made several other good breaks but lost them (would have won if kept all), meanwhile Andy made sure of the game.
Terry Gasson* 870 - 3090 Mark Webber Terry Black pegged a match winning 3k score and that allowed Mark to win easily.
Ron Wales 1000 - 1580 Rick Hammond* Another 1st ever competitive game for Rick who won this low scoring battle.
Mick Kirwan* 3290 - 1330 Geoff Parsons Mick played well to beat Geoff, who didn't seem to settle on the table at all.
Graham Sparksman 5870 - 0 Des Gasson* Des contrived to loose this one by repeated encounters with the Black peg (must have picked up the idea from his brother ;D)
It was good that the Plough have found 2 new players and we wish them well for the coming season. Thanks to the LB boys for an enjoyable evening.

brewers arms win 4-1
The OldFella's report added:
"Watermill B 1, Brewers Arms 4 The invigorated Brewers Arms side went to Worlds End to take on the Bees. 6K from Dilly past Gavin Offord was enough to put the Arms side into the lead. The Flying Dutchman couldn’t do quite enough to overcome Derek Taylor and the visitors went 2 up. The third frame was a much tighter affair as Liam Churcher scrambled home against Gavin Boyd and the Arms had the match. Richard Jeffrey took a comfortable fourth frame and with The Farmer playing last it looked like a maximum. But not so as Mark Ridley overcame the Arms skipper to grab the Bees first point of the season."

st francis 3 hurst 2 table tricky no scores over 2.5k will post report tomorrow but after having a practise at the end alot of people will understand how to play it Tomorrow never came ::).........ho hum, here is Roy's report on the match: ;D "Hurst A came down to earth after last week’s success with an away defeat to Saints. Shaun Morris did enough to take a captains’ match from Rob Hall and put Saints into an early lead. Bob Ellis took the next frame from Lorraine and it was looking good for the home side. All that stopped as Peter Edwards beat Roger Wallbank in frame 3 but a Chris Little victory over Pete Hall gave the match to Saints. Jenny Edwards won a much needed point for Hurst from Peter Geal in the last."

The missing match report, courtesy of the OldFella:
"The A Team went down the road to play Bravos at the Brewers. It started well for the away side as Big Norm took frame 1 from Lynne M-R. Bravo hit 5K past John Staplehurst to keep things even and there followed a close scrap between Spud Spurrier and Jim Blake which went to the Watermill man. Match won for the visitors as Kim Stenning proved too strong for Nikki Hinkins but a good effort from Paul M-R grabbed a late point for Bravos."
