Zeds won the table top clash, enjoying the near-perfect Eight Bells table. (What a change now that Steve Mariner has re-clothed it, a pleasure to play on). 8-)
Scores didn't really do the table justice but there was a lot of pressure on both sides, poor Barry really struggling in game four to secure the winning frame.
Ros Appleby 2800, tommo 5360 Doug Mahy 5090, Alan Downs 6480 Nick Brown 8750, Graham Daniels 3880 Tony Driver 1100, Barry Timson 2390 Denise Mahy 590, Mick Holmwood 7120 Eight Bells 1, Mill House Z 4
Pick of the games was the second one, Doug coasting with two nice breaks, and then Alan getting a 5k break at the end to snatch it. 8-)
Table good, good banter with opposition, food good (chilli con carne and rice). Evening marred slightly by the herbert wearing a Man U shirt who kept telling us to get out of his eyeline while he was watching the England friendly on the big screen - more important than our bar billiards match, apparently. >:(

It seems that the forum replaced my expletive with the word "lovely" which is the exact opposite of what I posted!!

You should know by now H that expletives are not allowed, the forum will replace most of them automatically, try using a slightly less 'expletive' expletive ;D

BREWERS BRAVOS:2 HURST CLUB B:3
Bravo:4150 Chris:4340 What a good match. Bravo looked to be coasting when 3k up bur Chris fought back with two good breaks. He was in command when the the bar dropped and duly sunk them all to take the opener
Paul:2600 John:1870 Neither got on with what is a very whippy top, Paul fighting it out to draw level.
Lynne:1080 Coleen:2320 Good fight early on but Coleen pulled ever further ahead with most visits to leave Lynne no chance.
Nikki:1540 Steve:8730 Nikki lead off with an excellent 1k+ break but Steve drew level with the next visit and then killed off the game and match with his second.
Spud:4930 IanG:1640 Very similar to last weeks game. Either mans frame until i grabbed it at the last.
Always such a good evening with the Hurst Club and nice to see Marion and Darell out tonight.
Cheers all.

Watermill B - 4, HHUSC - 1
The two captains opened the evening a bit slowly - The Flying Dutchman managed to BP early on in the game and never really got going again. A couple of 1K+ breaks from Graham saw the first point going to HHUSC Martin 440 - Graham 4090
Mark (That's me!) had the break and managed to put a few points down followed by Ron doing the same. Ron was very unlucky on more than one occasion and a couple of decent breaks from Mark (That's me!) saw him over the line. Mark 1950 - Ron 930
Paul and Mick had a good tussle with a few good point scoring opportunities and Paul managed to hang on in the end for a good win. Paul 2080 - Mick 1250
Gavin (The Pub Landlord) was on fire (not literally) with the break and got off to a flyer with breaks of 600, 1100 & 1740. A great 2100 break from Andy at the end was not quite enough to stop Gavin getting his first league win - go Gavin ! Gavin 3880 - Andy 2810
Final game saw Gavin (Brighton Gav) taking on Tim. Some good play from both players with Gavin running out the winner in the end. Gavin 2460 - Tim 1190
Many thanks to Vicky for the Pasta (mighty fine nosh) and to Graham and the team for a good friendly evening.

from the old fella
horns lodge v brewers arms The Horns Lodge played host to the Brewers Arms this week and were soon a point down as Derek Taylor took frame 1 from Geoff Winson. A captains’ match between Kevin Stevens and The Farmer was won by the Lodge man to square the match. Noddy Humphrey took frame 3 from Dave Tiffin to move the Arms back into the lead and Dilly did enough to defeat Tom Massey and claim the match. An additional point went to The Arms as Richard Jeffrey took the last leg off Mike Letham.
no report from fish though
