Mill House Z 5, Plough Plumpton 0
Barry T 5280, Darren Newnham 1520 Graham D 7710, Chase Newman 1450 Mick H 5110, Dave Knight 2820 Alan Downs 2830 Jan Bithell 2810 tommo 4420, Ron Sheridan 2670
Plough were good sports and consumed vast quantities of ale, would beat St Francis I think in a drink-off. Jan desperately unlucky in the fourth frame, a superb comeback only to lose on the last 100 which a relieved Alan potted.

Woolpack 2 - Eight Bells 3
Anne Stockinger 770 - Ros* 1250
Jan Hinkins* 1490 - Doug 3430
Nigel Bransby 800 - Denise* 1730
Malcolm Fulller* 3000 - Gary Foster 1240
Lyn Storr 3240 - Trevor* 1040
It's difficult to work out why we struggled so much with this table: it's relatively straight, the break is easy - but it's just hard to get the balls back.
I hit my opening break too hard and the white bounced out, I failed to clear after that and was off cheaply. Anne parked a ball in front of the white peg fairly early on, which effectively killed the game for about 10 minutes. I maintained a lead of a few hundred through the whole game.
Doug had the break back about 3 times, but was unable to keep it going. He rattled the black peg fairly well in the closing minutes of his game - I think we'll call him 'lucky Doug' from now on! ;)
Denise and Nigel were neck and neck, until Denise got a very useful 600 break near the end, which pulled her ahead.
Malcolm led off with about 1.5k and built on it, Gary got the break back once, but was unable to capitalise.
Trevor opened with 750, but then struggled to pot when the balls went to the back. Lyn managed to clear and got a good 2k break (the highest of the night I think)
Lovely evening, lots of good conversation and banter, with generous plates of sandwiches. 8-)

Plough LB 2 - 3 Laughing Fish
Des Gasson 1840 - 2800 Ray Carpenter Geoff Parson 2310 - 2350 Les Whiteman Steve Whyte 2330 - 8540 H Keiron Budd - 2730 - 1470 Andy Brooks Steve Budd 1110 - 620 Jim Ashford
Jim unlucky in the last to black peg going for a ball up again the cush - he was comfortably leading.
Also, I have to say the table really wasn't too bad at all (its apparently a new cloth and slate since we were last there). Much quicker than I remember, and the cushions had a decent bounce on them - despite the table being quite a lot uphill, and the pockets slightly whippy, it was more than playable!
Thanks to the plough for a good evening and for the food!

BREWERS BRAVOS:3 HORNS LODGE:2
Lynne:1990 Geoff Winsome:3050 Nikki:1520 Kev Stevens:2650 Bravo:8030 M.Letham:1290 Spud:5110 Tom Massey:1390 Paul:3410 Roger Dudman:410
It certainly was a tricky match last night. The ladies both made excellent efforts to catch up their opponents but were ultimately left with slightly too much to do, Geoff andd Kev playing well. 2-0 down and up against it, the Skip steadied the ship with a good performance (after last week he was taking no chances at all). I continued the comeback with lots of little goes on break. Tom was unlucky not to score more. Paul finally put us over the line with an excellent performance. Had he kept all his scores he would have outscored even Bravo in the end.
Really good night with the lodge who were a really fun and sociable team. Very much looking foward to the return match with them.
Cheers all.
