Happy days A Sussex County Champ, first of many I hope! ;) ;D

Congratulations to Jim and Terry and commiserations to Niel and Martin. A tight final that went down to the last. As forgotten on previous post to Bella and Gina for winning the ladies doubles, played between the four entrants on a round robin basis and they only dropped one leg in six. Well done to Dave and Barry taking the first three legs in the plate final beatiing Bob and Kevin. Tables were certainly varied and presented a varied challenge. My thanks go to Dave Ingram on his help on the desk on Saturday, for helping me with all the running around on Friday. To Graham Sparksman for setting up the tables, Ros and Colin for the use of their tables. Ros, Colleen and Dave for their help in cleaning and preperation of the tables Friday evening. To Dave and Sparky for help with the furniture humping. The Club for hosting, Colin and his assistant for doing the excellent food that I have to say is excellent value. Lastly and not least to the players for entering and making it a good a day.

And now good luck to all those playing today in the singles, and again thanks to Sparky who will be there today at crack of dawn to do any fine tuning and preperation of tables. He does not enter the comps so is a very fair choice to set tables up, he does an extremely good job, and sometimes when we struggle on a table we do forget the amount of work done voluntarily and the conditions of setting tables up that are only available for working on the day before the competitions start so do not get time to settle.

Congratulations to Jim Greensted and Terry Molloy on their victory yesterday in an exciting and closely fought final beating Neil Higgins and Martin Smith on aggregate by just under 4k after both pairs won 2 legs in the final. Rick & Dick Dewdney and Richard Wooton and Marc Chipman were the semi-finalists, while Mark James hit the highest break (13,850) in the main Mens Competition.
Bella Stoner and Gina Sherratt played superbly all day to win the Ladies Doubles, with Bella also hitting the highest Ladies Break (10,790) of the day. Lorraine Hall and Jenny Edwards finished as Runners-Up, thanks to winning 1 leg more than both of the other pairs.
The Mens Plate Competition was won by last years Main Competition winners, Barry Holt and Dave France, who beat Kevin Stoner and Rob Hall in the Final, Dave also hit the highest break (15,320) of the day in the Plate.
I will echo Tony's post and say many thanks to the Hurst Club for their usual hospitality, TJ for running the competition, Colin Robbins & Brenda for their wonderful food, Tarratts Tables, Colin Green and Ros Appleby for supplying the tables and Sparky for his hard work in setting them up.

Added congratulations to Gina for winning the ladies singles from Colleen in the final, this means that Gina won the singles and doubles this weekend. Gina was left to chase 6200 after the firstframe of her semi final against Jan Bithell and made a lovely 9140 break to win it. As already said a worthy mens final with both players having played well all day, losing semi finalists were Terry Race and Alan Brackenridge. Thanks again to Dave and Colleen for their help and support in running the day, that went smoothly, again felt the tables set a fair challenge. Again thanks to Graham Sparksman for his early start today to do the last adjustments after yesterday.

Thanks to all the people, as previously listed, for their hard work, help and enthusiasm in running such an excellent set of competitions.
Also would like to say how much I appreciate the 'thanks' and supportive words & posts received for my own humble efforts.
